The United Way Free Tax Preparation Campaign is one of the largest Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Programs in the nation. We are currently seeking to fill the Program Manager, Financial Stability to join the Community Services Team. The role is responsible for designing and scaling the Tax Preparation Campaign and developing strategies that will increase the economic stability of low-income people in King County, Washington.
With economic instability exacerbated for many in the region, connections to income supports like the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit provide stabilizing cash assistance for families who are struggling to get by. As a key program in United Way of King County’s COVID-19 response effort, the Free Tax Preparation Campaign will deliver services through virtual and limited contact strategies this upcoming tax season., serving over 20,000 people. The position mobilizes the funding, staff, and partners to disrupt poverty for thousands of households and serves as an ambassador for United Way on improving tax policy for low income people at the local and national level.

The recruiting salary range is $70,500 - $73,500 – DOE. This position is open until filled; first consideration will be given to applications received within two weeks of posting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, specializing in Social Science or a related field. Must have three years’ experience in community engagement/ organizing program and volunteer management. Knowledge of tax preparation law and/or software desirable, willingness and ability to become proficient in using TaxSlayer software and obtain IRS tax certification at the "Advanced" level. Speaking and understanding other languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Amharic, Cambodian, or Russian is a plus. Supervisory experience required.

JOB CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position works under constant time requirements/constraints. Work is generally performed in an office environment with some evenings and weekends. Requires the ability to travel to a variety of locations throughout King County. However, during COVID-19, most activities will be performed virtually. Position has on-call status during tax season.
Job involves a moderate degree of complexity or difficulty based on handling and prioritizing the many tasks of position responsibilities. Position operates independently with minimal supervision. Position may have partial budgetary preparation/compliance accountability. Position is accountable for strategic planning. Decisions are sometimes made by a group process format and sometimes on an independent basis. Decisions are made within general organizational policy constraints.
Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, handling, and using repetitive motions of hands/wrists. Position may require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
