By providing participants with our suite of integrated services, we seek to provide any motivated young person with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to successfully transition to adulthood.


The Care Navigator and Drop-in Assistant is an integral part of the Runaway and Homeless Youth Drop-in program. This position helps connect members to appropriate crisis or case management services and provides basic needs services, such as showers, clothing, laundry and food to members of the drop-in program.. The Care Navigator and Drop-in Assistant also assists the Assistant Director and Supervisor in maintaining the Drop-in program’s records, keeping inventory and ordering supplies, and keeping the office organized and running smoothly.


Responsibilities:

  • Welcome clients to the Drop-in program and provide consistent coverage for the front desk in the Drop-in Center, ensuring members are connected to appropriate crisis and case management services in a timely manner
  • Provide food, clothing, showers, and laundry services to members
  • Supervise door members while in the drop-in space
  • Ensure all services are documented and tracked
  • Take weekly inventory of all food, clothing, and hygiene supplies and place orders as appropriate
  • Manage petty cash, metrocards, and invoicing for the program
  • Oversee clothing closet volunteers and drop-in interns
  • Screen telephone inquiries to the drop in center and route to appropriate individuals for response 
  • Assist with office duties, i.e.: typing, filing and copying when necessary
  • Assist with lunchtime and Saturday drop-in activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, associates or bachelors preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people
  • Ability to establish good rapport with young people and staff
  • At least 2 years office experience and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Previous experience working with homeless or otherwise vulnerable youth populations required
  • Previous experience with computer data entry and database management strongly preferred
  • Must be self-sufficient and a team player
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Persons who have previously experienced homelessness encouraged to apply
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin preferred


Hours: 35 hours per week, Tuesday – Saturday 11am-7pm
