INQUILINOS UNIDOS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Inquilinos Unidos’ mission is to empower and organize low-income tenants to fight for decent and safe housing and neighborhoods. Founded in the early 1980s, Inquilinos Unidos has been a primary policy and organizing advocate for these tenants since its inception. Our work is focused on the low-income, primarily Spanish speaking communities of Pico-Union, Westlake, and East Hollywood.

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the organization, including leadership, fundraising, budget/finance, human resources, public relations, and communications. The Executive Director is our chief organizational spokesperson to government agencies, community organizations, and the public.

Primary Duties Include:

·   Provide leadership to maintain and increase effectiveness and visibility.

·   Direct tenant empowerment, organizing and service work.

·   Supervise, develop and evaluate staff and staff work plans.

·   Develop, implement and evaluate fiscal, program and operational objectives.

·   Fundraising, including effective development campaigns and grant writing activities.

·   Ensure compliance with foundation and government grants and contracts.

·   Ensure appropriate Board participation in policy and fiscal issues.

Desired Qualities Include:

·   Ability to work well with staff, board and tenants to formulate and implement organization plans and objectives.

·   Organizing background and/or leadership role with CBO.

·   Experience in fundraising, grant writing and budget development.

·   Good written and oral communication skills/bilingual in Spanish and English

·   General knowledge of landlord/tenant law.

·   Skilled with Excel, Word, and commonly used office software
