Sunbridge Institute, Inc., the nation's oldest Waldorf teacher training institution, is seeking to add a new part-time (28+ hours/week) admissions and summer coordinator to its team of highly motivated professionals. Sunbridge is looking for candidates who strongly identify with our values, mission, and goals, and who are eager to contribute their ideas, energy, and skills to the close working team of Sunbridge administrators and faculty.

Situated on a beautiful 140-acre campus in Rockland County, NY, Sunbridge Institute is within easy commuting distance of NYC, northern NJ, and Westchester and Fairfield counties. Sunbridge prides itself on offering its employees a warm, collegial work environment.

The admissions and summer coordinator is responsible for coordinating the two tracks offered by Sunbridge Institute: 1) Low-residency, Waldorf teacher education programs and 2) Short-term courses and workshops. The coordinator works about 24 hours a week from August through April and about 40 hours a week from May through July. (Note: Vacation time may not be taken from May-July.) When our program students are on campus (6 weeks in June/July, 2 weeks in November, and 2 weeks in March) and when workshops are held, there will be some evening and/or weekend hours.

The coordinator works closely with the director of education and director of outreach, is an integral member of the advancement team, and reports directly to the executive director. Participation at staff meetings and other meetings is required.

Admissions Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this part of the position are overseeing the application process to our teacher education programs from initial inquiry to enrollment, including handling phone, email, and written correspondence with and hosting events for prospective students; interfacing with program directors; and preparing admissions tracking reports for the Board. The coordinator also plans logistics for the faculty and students in advance of their on-campus attendance including, but not limited to, classroom bookings, supply needs, and support, and, in close coordination with the director of education, manages the daily needs of faculty and students during their time on campus.

Summer Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this part of the position are coordinating and planning Sunbridge’s professional development and general interest courses and workshops which take place primarily in the summer in the form of our Summer Series, but are also offered on occasional weekends throughout the year. This includes arranging (along with colleagues and faculty) the roster of offerings, overseeing the participant registration process, handling the budget, managing the on-campus daily needs of faculty and students (in close coordination with the director of education), and supervising at least one assistant.

Sought-after Profile

Candidates should be proactive troubleshooters who enjoy working in a highly collaborative manner and in serving the public and the Sunbridge community. Strong communication skills, professionalism, and high accountability are part of the Sunbridge culture and expected of all Sunbridge employees.
