Position Summary

Foundation Communities seeks a Volunteer Coordinator responsible for developing and executing a communications and recruitment plan that includes partner engagement, communications and outreach, and community mobilization that lead to volunteer engagement within the Prosper Centers of Foundation Communities. The Prosper Centers create pathways to financial wellness, higher education, and health coverage so that those who face barriers have opportunities to prosper.

Ideal candidates have strong communications skills, community engagement experience, comfort with public speaking, and the ability to cultivate relationships with prospective and current volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.

This position receives direction from the Director of Corporate & Volunteer Programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Recruitment:
  • Recruit a diverse pool of community members to volunteer with the Foundation Communities Prosper Center Programs including College Hub, Health Coverage, Financial Coaching and Tax Help programs through presentations, events, communications and relationship management.
  • Manage existing partnerships with local organizations while also developing new relationships with the purpose of encouraging volunteer engagement.
  • Communications: craft compelling and timely messages to inspire and motivate prospective and active volunteers to invest their time and stay informed about the Prosper Center Programs.
  • Volunteer Retention: Implement volunteer recognition programs and practices including communications, events and relationship management.
  • Volunteer Management:
  • Partner with Volunteer Coordinator (training, operations and data focus) to ensure a streamlined volunteer experience across Prosper Center volunteer programs.
  • Maintain the partnership with the University of Texas’ Red McCombs School of Business and the Accounting Practicum students and faculty for the Tax Help program.
  • Assist with the implementation of an evaluation processes for volunteers and key staff through surveys, interviews and data review.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Some prior experience with community organizing, communication and/or other forms of constituent building experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and to ask for help when needed.
  • Ability to authentically build relationships with prospective and current volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Position requires some nights and weekends during peak seasons.

Salary and Benefits: $21.50-$23.50 per hour. Foundation Communities provides a benefits package including employer paid health benefits, 401(k) investment opportunity, Employee Assistance Program, paid vacation, holiday, and sick time.
