Requirements:

• 24 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units

• BA or MA in ECE (preferred) or related field

• At least five years of leadership experience 

• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods

• Knowledge of Emergent Curriculum, Documentation, and the Project Approach

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Experience communicating with parents and ability to collaborate with staff

• Great problem solving and conflict management skills

• Enthusiastic team leader and able to work with diverse groups

• Comfortable using basic office technology and software including MS Word, Excel, and Gmail.

 

About the Position

The Director oversees the administration of Pacific Primary’s Orange Sun School. The Director reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for consistent achievement of the school’s mission and educational objectives.


In administration, the Director will:

  1. Ensure that the school has a long-range administrative strategy and work toward achieving administrative goals in a consistent and timely way.
  2. Maintain official records and documents ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
  3. Promote active and broad participation of parent volunteers in all areas of the school’s work.
  4. Establish strong relationships and communication methods with parents, staff, Executive Director, and Board of Directors.
  5. Support the values outlined in the school’s mission and diversity statements.


In admissions, the Director will:

  1. Oversee the admissions process including recruitment and evaluation of applicants with the Executive Director.


In educational program, the Director will:

  1. Provide leadership in developing curriculum with the staff to ensure that the school achieves its overall educational mission.
  2. Assume responsibility for the school’s educational philosophy.
  3. Ensure an environment that is physically and emotionally safe for children.


In staff relations, the Director will:

  1. Supervise all Orange Sun School staff and ensure that all rooms maintain adequate teacher/child ratio at all times.
  2. Meet at regularly scheduled intervals with staff to ensure the quality of the school’s programs.
  3. Assist the Executive Director with recruitment, employment, and assessment of all staff.


In health and safety, the Director will:

  1. Take responsibility in maintaining a clean and safe environment at all times.  
  2. Ensure conformance with all reporting regulations and safety rules.


In communication the Director will:

  1. Keep the Executive Director fully informed about the condition of the school and all factors influencing it.
  2. Collaborate with the Executive Director on program, supervision, and administration.
  3. Establish sound relationships and communication with parents and staff.
  4. Read and edit all classroom newsletters and student conference reports before they are distributed.
  5. Promote the philosophy, mission of the school and the educational objectives.
