Girl Scouts of Greater New York is accepting applications for a STEM Educator. The role of the educator is to develop and implement Girl Scout and community partner programs as part of the STEM Next Opportunity Fund in the five boroughs of NYC. This is a grant-funded position for 14 hours/week with a twice-monthly stipend and MetroCard, academic credit may be available.


·        Manage responsibilities of the STEM Next Opportunity Fund including program goals, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation with support from the STEM Programs Manager

·        Plan and liaise with community organizations to develop and implement STEM Programs that support Girl leadership in STEM

·        Support the implementation of Council programming events to girls and leaders within the 5 boroughs

·        Assist the STEM Programs Manager in all aspects of GSGNY STEM Programing

·        Develop relationships with girls, parents, and local organizations to nurture lasting commitments to Girl Scouting

·        Maintain an open channel of communication with staff to ensure program success 

·        Assist with the recruitment, training, and management of program mentors and volunteers

·        Ensure safety by maintaining child: staff ratio at all events

·        Serve as an advocate for the GSGNY program


·        College student as of Fall 2018 with a major in STEM fields, education, or women’s studies

·        Prior teaching and/or program implementation for grades Kindergarten-12th

·        The ability to interact effectively with youth, volunteers, and staff

·        The ability to optimize the use of technology to support girls and volunteers

·        Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

·        Ability to design relevant and responsive programs for girls that reflect the values of the Girl Scout mission

·        Must be able to commit to flexible part-time work schedule, including weekdays, weekend programs, and occasional weeknights, and travel throughout the five boroughs

·        Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities/deadlines, and perform well under pressure

·        Proficiency in identifying, analyzing and solving problems

·        Passionate about the work with girls in Kindergarten- 12th grade, and in the impact potential of the Girl Scout movement on girl members

·        Availability from June 1st 2018-February 28th 2019

·        Ability to lift 25 pounds


·        Bachelor’s  Degree in STEM fields, education, or women’s studies

·        Curriculum design

·        Girl Scouting experience
