Planned Parenthood of Southwest & Central Florida is looking for the right candidate to fill the role of Outreach Educator and Community Liaison for our Sarasota/Manatee region.

Interested candidates must be willing to advocate for the mission of Planned Parenthood. Must demonstrate understanding of, and have a strong personal commitment to, reproductive rights, goals, and PPSWCF’s principles and philosophies.

POSITION SUMMARY: Serve as community educator and PP representative for designated county/counties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Promotes, and responds to requests for sexuality educational programs in schools, agencies, and other community organizations.

2. Represents, identifies, and participates as PPSWCF at coalition and community meetings and events.

3. Facilitates Peer Education Programming.

4. Conducts classroom or small group health and sexuality educational sessions in accordance with PPSWCF or other approved curricula or formats.

5. Prepares educational lessons and informational materials, exercises and activities that are age and culturally appropriate to the target population.

6. Plan and implement targeted community outreach, education, and youth development programs in accordance with PPSWCF guidelines.

7. Manages multiple programs/assignments concurrently.

8. Implements scope of work in grants/contracts according to contract timelines as assigned.

9. Collects and processes program and demographic data and prepares reports for funding sources in accordance with contract/grant guidelines.

10. Participates in planning department’s objectives for annual and strategic plans.

11. Assists with project proposal planning and development, as necessary.

12. Keep supervisor informed of all job activities through regular phone calls, meetings, and email communications.

13. Participate in research, development and creation of new curriculum lessons as determined by population need.

14. Maintain proficiency in current medical terminology, human anatomy, medical test and procedures and sexual health related issues.

15. Demonstrate flexibility in work habits (including the possibility of occasionally working evenings and/or weekends) and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

16. Demonstrate ability to respond positively to constant change and help lead the way forward to include new developments in education, targeted to both new and existing clients, schools, government, and other community members.

17. Represent and share PPSWCF goals, goodwill and philosophy in interaction with all clients and community contacts.

18. Provides educational/in-service training support to other departments within this agency.

19. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT

Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in education program delivery.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in youth development, social work, psychology, education, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will also be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

· Knowledge of the stages of youth development and positive approaches to behavior management.

· Ability to take initiative in developing and maintaining education contacts.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Strong presentation and training skills in working in small and large groups, with adults and youth.

· Cultural competence in the environments where education programs and trainings will be delivered.

· Ability to work individually as well as part of a high performing team.

· Experience and skill in group dynamics and facilitation.

· Ability to develop and adapt curricula.

· Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team setting.

· Flexibility to manage multiple priorities within a constantly changing environment.

· Comfort in discussing issues related to human sexuality and reproductive health.

· Comfort working for an abortion provider.

Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer, telephone, fax and copy machine and programs including Zoom, WORD, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and other internet software as identified.

License(s)/Certifications Required: Complete and maintain continuing education training and annual updates.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:

Ability to visually observe department and agency staff and supervise youth within general PPSWCF programs. Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds of weight. Local and possible out of state travel (air travel) required on company business: reliable transportation, Florida driver’s license and documentation of automobile insurance required.

Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of PPSWCF's total compensation package for employees.
