Accounting and Administrative Assistant

The Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP) seeks a part-time Accounting and Payroll Assistant to provide payroll, accounting, and administrative support to the Center.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a part-time, salaried position. The candidate will be expected to work at least 18 hours a week.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Associate Director for Finance and Administration by:

  • Managing human resources for the center including running payroll, filing taxes, managing employee benefits, assisting with recruitment, conducting new-hire orientations, keeping center forms, policies, and manuals up-to-date;
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable for the center;
  • Preparing and tracking project budgets and proposals, submitting monthly expense reports, and communicating balances and outstanding payments to project directors;
  • Assisting with the center's annual audit;
  • Providing staff support by collecting time sheets and out-of-office requests, and reimbursements;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining the center's calendar and organizing staff meetings and retreats;
  • Arranging staff travel and securing travel authorizations;
  • Coordinating and executing biannual board meetings.
  • Occasionally will be required to work evenings and/or weekends.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • College degree and minimum one year of experience in an accounting, payroll, or administrative assistant role
  • Project management experience a plus

Special Knowledge/Skills Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be professional, well organized, and attentive to detail;
  • Be flexible and able to multitask and prioritize tasks daily;
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Adobe, and Intuit Online Payroll

Working Conditions

The candidate will:

  • Sit for extended periods of time, stand, and walk
  • Occasionally lift up to ten pounds
