About the Bilingual COVID Re-Entry Operations Associate Position

The Bilingual COVID Re-entry Operations Associate role is a critical position for the functioning of the school as we plan for re-entry and recovery during the 2021-2022 school year. Bilingual COVID Re-entry Operations Associates will report to the Director of COVID Re-entry Operations. Bilingual COVID Re-entry Operations Associates are responsible for continuous compliance with all aspects of the school’s reopening plan. 

Bilingual COVID Re-entry Operations Associates are members of a team led by the Director of COVID Re-entry Operations to serve as the direct points of contact for all employees, students and their families related to the identification of positive COVID-19 cases and subsequent communications. Tasks must be performed with care and attention, following procedures exactly to make sure all parts of the job are completed in accordance with policies. This job description provides an outline of the duties of the position, but there may be additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of COVID Re-entry Operations.

Capital City considers this position to be crucial for our transition year from full distance learning in SY2020-21 through the re-entry and recovery expected in SY2021-22. We do not expect this position to continue beyond the 2021-22 school year. 

Responsibilities will include:

COVID Safety Operations Planning:

  • Understand overall COVID safety protocols for re-entry and recovery. This will include, but not be limited to: building access controls (arrival and dismissal), classroom setup, transitions through the building, meal service, cleaning, COVID testing, isolation room management, contact tracing, and communications.  
  • Review relevant guidance from DC Department of Health (DC Health) and the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) regarding K12 school reopening.
  • Support the Director of COVID Re-entry Operations to ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning supplies, and other relevant inventory is always available for student and staff use.

Building Access Controls and Movement:

  • Support a safe, socially-distanced arrival and dismissal system.
  • During arrivals, ensure social distancing is maintained outdoors and en route to classrooms.
  • Conduct arrival time student symptoms identification health check (ASK, ASK, LOOK).
  • Verify that students entering the building are scheduled to be present that day and time, and that there are no health exclusion reasons for them to be denied entry (e.g., during a required quarantine period).
  • Support daily staff and visitor health screening.
  • Ensure all necessary safety signage is in place and clearly understood by students, staff and others.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with students, employees and families.

Building Systems and Safety:

  • Monitor building operations to ensure:
  • Cleaning and disinfecting procedures are followed.
  • PPE and hand-sanitizing equipment is reliably available in all rooms and at entrances. 
  • HVAC system is operating as designed in all classrooms and offices.
  • Work with all staff to ensure everyone in the building follows mask wearing, social distancing and hygiene protocols.

COVID Testing Oversight & Management:

  • Conduct asymptomatic COVID-19 testing of students and staff as determined by the school.
  • Contact and support families to collect all necessary COVID testing consent forms and to track student eligibility for testing.  
  • Respond to any reports of symptomatic students or staff, including coverage of isolation rooms.
  • Support the Director of COVID Re-entry Operations to report any positive cases to DC Health and to conduct school’s contact tracing.
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

Minimum required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. The COVID Re-Entry Operations Associate must be dependable, show initiative, be self motivated, able to work independently and on a team and customer service oriented. Candidates must be highly organized, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and display the ability to prioritize and multitask projects. Must be flexible and able to adjust to unexpected schedule changes, occasionally take on tasks outside of their normal routine and be able to quickly shift gears. Candidates should be friendly, professional, and comfortable interacting with a variety of people including vendors, fellow employees, parents and children. Strong and professional oral, written and email communication skills in English and Spanish are required. Prior office experience, including familiarity with office systems such as Google Suite, student databases, Microsoft Excel, and word processing is essential. This position may require the ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50lbs.

In addition to the above requirements, staff members must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a satisfactory criminal background check and a negative TB test.
