    THE POSITION

    We are looking for an energetic and dedicated individual to coordinate and provide leadership on our Travel Programs in San Ignacio, Belize. The Team Leader is expected to 1) coordinate all travel program activities, 2) manage the high school participants who attend the travel programs, and 3) teach academic technical sessions during the travel program. The position offers a unique opportunity for an independent individual with a passion for global health, to collaborate with local community stakeholders, in supporting services offered in underserved rural communities.

    The position being advertised is for a private contractor. The training is held virtually, part-time from Feb 26-29. The candidate is expected to be working full-time, on-site in Belize from March 2-14. The candidate will ideally be based in Guatemala or Belize.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the responsibilities of the Project Officer will include:

    On-Site Program: General Activities

    • Coordinating program activities which include clinical, school, reflection, cultural and sports activities.
    • Ensuring that all participants and team members adhere to the GPSA policies.
    • Handling disciplinary issues, conflicts, and emergencies in an appropriate and timely manner following GPSA policies.
    • Assuming a leadership and mentor role with participants.
    • Attending daily staff meetings.
    • Preparing and teaching assigned technical sessions.

    On-Site Program: Clinical Activities

    • Providing safe care to patients, by adhering to the GPSA activity protocols and GPSA clinical activity protocol.
    • Facilitating participant learning through appropriate supervision.
    • Supervising participants in the completion of their homework, and skills practice.

    Post-Program Evaluation

    • Participating in the participant performance evaluation after every program.
    • Participate in a debriefing session with the Project Coordinator after every program.

    General

    • Participating in training workshops.
    • Exchanging and collaborating pro-actively with GPSA and health center team members on a regular basis.
    • Providing continuous input into the development and quality improvement of GPSA programs.

    Benefits

    • Length of contract: 5 weeks. The chosen candidate will be in training from Feb 24-March.4th (part-time, virtually, 20 hours), arriving in Belize on March.5th, staying in the San Ignacio area from March.5-25, flying out of Belize City on March.26.
    • Paid holiday: none
    • All traveling, accommodation and meal expenses are covered while in Belize.
    • The contract does not include labor benefits or any other benefits under the Guatemalan labor code.
    • Any costs related to obtaining Visas are not covered.
