The Community Idea Stations is seeking an Associate Producer and Director to assist with the production of WCVE and WHTJ Virginia Home Grown and Charlottesville Inside Out. This is a full time position with benefits and reports to the Senior Producer/Director.
This position will assist the Senior Producer/Director produce and direct field segments and provide rough-cut and fine-cut video editing. The Associate Producer/Director will conceptualize and create program graphic content and visual treatments and create promotional and feature content for television, digital media, radio and other delivery platforms. Other duties may include scheduling facilities, personnel and equipment and maintaining documentation to track production information. This position may also provide production assistance including videography, transcription, and closed captioning materials.

Level of Language Proficiency
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mass Communications or a related field and at least three years’ experience in television, video or film production. Candidates should have practical experience creating broadcast quality videos and graphics using computerized software. Successful candidates will have demonstrated strong technical skills in Avid, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe CC or other video editing and graphics software systems. Candidates should also have technical directing (video switcher) experience and strong creative and artistic skills in video editing and graphics/image creation.
Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and possess a valid Virginia Driver’s license and clean driving record. Candidates should be able to work unusual hours with little advance, including evenings and weekend, and be available for travel.
Candidates should be able to work independently with little to no daily supervision and should be able to work well as part of a team. Candidates should have strong written and verbal skills and be able to interact with a wide variety of people and personalities.
