SEIU Healthcare Florida Local 1991 is an active, progressive healthcare union based in South Florida. The local currently represents over 5,200 Registered Nurses, physicians, and medical professionals in the Jackson Health System.
Job Description: Responsible for implementing a comprehensive strategic communication plan, including but not limited to media relations, website maintenance, writing and designing printed communications, social media and electronic communications. Responsible for developing messaging on the Local’s issues and initiatives and reporting on the Local’s activities via all methods of communications. Primary initiatives of our local is the Labor Management Partnership (LMP) which will require a very collaborative style of communication. Tasks include writing press releases, communicating with media representatives, posting daily updates on the Local’s website, taking photos, producing promotional materials for union activities and supporting event planning.
Job Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications. Minimum of five years' experience in communications, or related field required. Must have excellent computer skills and superb written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of union and healthcare issues and experience in advocacy communications preferred. Must be able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision, have strong organizational skills and be self-motivated. Must be dedicated to building a strong Union and improving the lives of workers. A valid drivers’ license, car and auto insurance are required as a condition of employment.
