AmeriCorps Project CHANGE, Montgomery County’s MD original AmeriCorps program, is seeking a Program Assistant with strong human relations experience, organizational, database development, and project management skills to directly support the Program Director to ensure high quality implementation of all aspects of the program from training, recruitment, supervision, and evaluation.

Position Summary- The Program Assistant is a key member of the Project CHANGE Leadership team and works closely with the Executive Director to implement, design, and support systems which advance the success of all aspects of the program. The Program Assistant will support the Director in areas of member management such as Time Sheets, online records, recruiting and selection, overseeing the member training program, and ensuring compliance with all aspects of the grant. The position also allows for innovation as Project CHANGE strives to increase its impact on the local school system and become a leader among AmeriCorps programs.

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Since 2001, AmeriCorps Project CHANGE has partnered with Saturday School, MCPS and other non-profit organizations in Montgomery County MD to serve the neediest and most underserviced MCPS students. Every year, it recruits a team of 20 full time volunteers to serve directly in MCPS schools or in proven after-school programs such as YMCA, Community Bridges, Caring Matters, Family Learning Solutions, and Montgomery Housing Partnership. Through an innovative narrative/SEL learning method called MYSCORE, members are trained to assist students to become 5C learners, meaning more confident, curious, collaborative, courageous and career/future focused. Montgomery County is undergoing a demographic change that is stretching the resources of the local school system. Hence Project CHANGE commits to sending its members to the front lines of this emerging need. Too many MCPS students are one mentor away from success, and Project CHANGE commits to providing that mentor.
