The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) was founded in 1907 to help Attorneys General fulfill the responsibilities of their office and to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal services to the states and territorial jurisdictions. The Executive Office at NAAG oversees all programs and Association services.

The National Attorneys General Training & Research Institute (NAGTRI) was created in 2007 with the mission to provide high quality, non-partisan, and innovative training, research and other developmental resources to support state and territorial attorneys general offices. In 2017, NAGTRI created the Center for Consumer Protection (CCP) as the nation’s only entity dedicated to providing training, research, expertise, and other resources to the staff working in attorneys general offices and other government attorneys and staff committed to protecting the public against consumer fraud and abuse, and the misuse of charitable resources, particularly at the state level.

The NAGTRI Program Coordinator – Consumer Protection supports the work of NAAG and NAGTRI by assisting the Director and Program Counsel of the Center for Consumer Protection and other NAAG/NAGTRI attorneys.

The Program Coordinator should have excellent computer and writing skills including competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and online meetings platforms such as Zoom and GoToMeeting, be able to learn new computer programs, be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and thorough manner, meet deadlines, exhibit an outgoing personality, think independently, have some experience managing a budget and working with financial matters, and exercise tact and diplomacy. The Program Coordinator should be a self-starter who has the capacity to work effectively in both an individual and a team environment, fostering collaboration and cooperation across departments. The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director of the CCP. Travel for this position is currently 0% due to limitations imposed by COVID-19. Travel will increase once it is safe to do so, likely as soon as August 2021, and may account for up to 30% of this position.

Core Duties

As NAGTRI Program Coordinator – Consumer Protection, duties entail assisting with training/conference coordination, including meeting logistics, communications with attendees and faculty, course materials and virtual course platform management, and monitoring budgets. The Program Coordinator also provides ongoing administrative support for the CCP including maintenance of contact lists; conducting research and writing; website and member resource development, maintenance, and assistance; Association Management Software (AMS) assistance; Learning Management System (LMS) assistance; newsletter/publication assistance; and other general assistance. Approximately 95% of the position will focus on consumer protection-related activities, while the other 5% will be general NAGTRI assistance. 

Additional details regarding the duties of the position are listed below.

  • Provide assistance to CCP courses and research projects. Assist with announcement mailings, registration materials, handouts, badges, attendance lists, and gifts. Arrange for, pack up and mail office materials, gifts, thank you letters, and banners for each course. Monitor follow-up assignments.
  • Provide onsite support at CCP and non-CCP courses, including registration and onsite logistical support. Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with hotel staff. 
  • Provide assistance for three annual NAAG CCP conferences, including registrations, conference logistics and preparation, and onsite support.
  • Run online trainings and meetings via Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms.
  • Provide administrative support – prepare and proofread agendas, reports, and budgets for NAGTRI CCP trainings and conferences.
  • Support the online travel service – setting up travel accounts, adding new meetings, and general coordination responsibilities. Assist with travel arrangements of all attendees and faculty of trainings. Communicate with attendees and faculty regarding deadlines and checklist items for travel bookings.
  • Generate per diem charts for each CCP training and conference – catalog all travel information and reimbursements and calculate per diem rates. Maintain records of all reimbursement information.
  • Assist with formatting of PowerPoint presentations for CCP presenters and speakers; ability to run presentations for conference presenters if needed.
  • Create modules for each training and conference on the LMS. Upload all course materials and presentations to the course module.
  • Create events for each training and conference on the AMS and set up event registration. Monitor event registration and attendance through the AMS.
  • Update the CCP’s consumer-facing website as needed.
  • Manage conference call lines for attorney general staff use and provide back-up assistance as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned based on the needs of the CCP and the Association.


The Program Coordinator will work remotely as is advisable and/or necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic wanes, the Program Coordinator will work at NAAG’s office in Washington, D.C., and be able to utilize the remote work policy in accordance with NAAG’s Employee Handbook.  


Salary range $42,500 - $45,000 commensurate with experience. NAAG offers a very generous benefits package which includes health, dental, vision, life/LTD, LTC and 401k retirement plan with an employer match and profit sharing.
