Position Title:                                  NEON Works Coordinator


Direct Supervisor:           Director of Youth and Community Engagement


The Center for Community Alternatives (CCA) is a leader in the field of community-based alternatives to incarceration. Our mission is to promote reintegrative justice and a reduced reliance on incarceration through advocacy, services and public policy development in pursuit of civil and human rights.

CCA’s Youth Services Department is seeking a qualified positive youth development professional to coordinate community-based employment services for youth impacted by the justice system.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

Administration, Data Collection and Reporting (25%)

·        Track and report participant demographic, programmatic, and milestone data in all internal and external databases, including QuickBase and DOP Connect databases; ensure Director of Youth and Community is updated regularly on programmatic deliverables and targets 

  • Complete internal and external weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required by Director of Career Readiness, Director of Youth Services and funding agencies

·        Perform weekly audit of staff performance data in QuickBase from Mentors, Employment Coaches and Contracted Facilitators including the completion of lesson plans; group and 1:1 notes; intakes; and outreach attempts and contacts; update Director of CR weekly on results of audit

  • Oversee and track participant stipends including the processing of timecards and submission of incentive requests; liaise with the fiscal department to ensure all stipends are sent on time; troubleshoot late and missing checks as needed
  • Maintain the NEON Works Calendar and ensure adequate staff coverage across all programs

Program Development, Implementation and Assessment (75%)

·        Coordinate all employment programming under the NEON Works contract and support Employment Mentors with program implementation including the provision of facilitation and content best practices

·        Work with Director of Youth and Community Development to develop Key Performance Indicators based on the latest research on what works in employment and work readiness programming for youth/justice-impacted youth

  • Coordinate the completion of Employment Assessments and Plans with all CCA participants to determine strengths, challenges and goals

·        Support Employment Mentors in completing Skills Passports and other workplace readiness metrics to determine program placement and further education and career opportunities

·        Support ongoing curriculum development for all NEON WORKS programming; hold curriculum planning sessions and provide ongoing written feedback on lesson plans and workshop sessions 

  • Coordinate participant outreach strategy to ensure consistent communication with NEON participants and ongoing relationship-building and support

·        Develop partnerships with a diverse range of work readiness and credentialing programs; potential employers, internship sites and vocational training opportunities for youth participants based on their interests; develop MOU’s with new partners and ensure ongoing communication to partners in support of referred youth

·        Maintain database of employment and educational referral opportunities in coordination with the Career Readiness Department.

·        Coordinate services in collaboration with Career Readiness department including the coordination of new Neon referrals as well as internal referrals to Career Readiness department programs including the Jails to Jobs and Pathways Internship program.

  • Complete quarterly program evaluations including workshop and facilitator assessments and youth surveys/feedback protocols
  • Perform additional tasks, as necessary, for the support and coordination of services


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:


·        We seek talented, dedicated individuals who possess a strong commitment to CCA’s mission, including those with relevant personal experience in terms of recovery and/or justice involvement

·        Degree in education, youth development, social work or other related field degree preferred

·        Minimum 3 years’ experience in youth program development, implementation and coordination

·        Strong knowledge of community-based and employment resources required; specialized knowledge of Brownsville-based community and employment resources a major plus 

·        Knowledge of and strong interest in juvenile justice issues and positive youth development best practices required

·        Strong interpersonal and team building skills

·        Experience working with justice involved youth a plus 

·        Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
