Through our services we engage over 1,400 AmeriCorps and Commonwealth Corps members and thousands of volunteers annually, improving academic and social and emotional outcomes for 13,600 youth, maintaining over 400 acres of park and public lands and 92 miles of trails and rivers, and providing legal assistance to 4,475 low-income individuals.

Position Description Summary:

MSA is looking for a creative self-starter to develop and implement digital strategy; design and promote web content; and provide daily hands-on management of social media activities on all platforms. The role also provides logistical and operational support to the MSA staff. This individual has a passion for mission-driven nonprofits and a strong understanding of the National Service and volunteerism sectors. The position is full-time and will report to the Director of Operations & External Affairs.

What you’ll do (Communications):

  • Generate, publish and share engaging content (graphic and written) for MSA’s digital communications including website, digital-direct mail, e-newsletters and multiple social media platforms.
  • Assist in managing and promoting MSA’s statewide volunteer platform, MSAConnectsForGood.org and Disaster Response Platform, www.madisastervolunteers.org.
  • Create a social media marketing strategy.
  • Communicate with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner.
  • Write and disseminate press releases.
  • Stay up-to-date with current technology and trends in virtual team tools, virtual meeting platforms, social media, graphic design tools, and digital marketing strategies.

 

What you’ll do (Operations):

  • Manage the internal operations and logistical support for a staff of 14.
  • Assist with logistical and administrative tasks associated with trainings and special events (i.e. coordinate special projects).
  • Participate in grant reviews.
  • Assist in supporting and maintaining MSA Board and Committee functions.

  

What we’re looking for:

  • 1-3 years working experience in social media management and content development;
  • Personal experience with corps-based service as a member and/or program staff (i.e. AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA, Commonwealth Corps) preferred;
  • Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram targeting, email marketing and website management are a must;
  • Strong knowledge of virtual meeting platforms (i.e. GoToMeeting, Zoom);
  • Strong knowledge of Constant Contact or similar email marketing tool;
  • Proficient in Canva or similar graphic design tool;
  • Strong written communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a temporary remote setting is a must;
  • A strong passion for service and volunteerism!
