About PrEP4All:

PrEP4All is a community-based, patient-led activist organization aimed at increasing access to HIV prevention. Founded in 2018, we work to ensure that the most vulnerable individuals can access HIV prevention and treatment regardless of their race, gender, socioeconomic status, or geographic location. By working with community members, public health experts, and government officials, we craft rigorous policy solutions and pressure the federal government to ensure that everyone gets the HIV care they need, with the goal of reducing new HIV infections in the United States to zero.

In 2020, PrEP4All expanded its work to include access to COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.

Job Description:

PrEP4All is seeking an analytical and flexible COVID-19 Program Manager. This new position will oversee all aspects of PrEP4All’s COVID-19 program, including policy generation, coalition management, and advocacy. A successful COVID-19 Program Manager will be able to guide PrEP4All’s strategic involvement in COVID-19, manage relationships with multiple stakeholders, and juggle competing priorities as they arise.

Strong candidates will understand the relevant access issues related to COVID-19 vaccines and be able to contextualize those within the broader field of public health. While not exclusively a research position, the ability to review, edit, and contribute to research drafted by both consultants and staff members is a must. Candidates should be comfortable working with coalitions of other organizations, influencing senior policymakers, and managing the execution of advocacy strategies.

The COVID-19 Program Manager will report to the Managing Director, Strategy & Policy. This position is a 12-month contract to be reevaluated at its conclusion.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Policy Research

  • Participate in the research, writing, editing, and publishing of policy papers, briefs, advocacy materials, and reports related to COVID-19
  • Manage teams of research consultants, copy-editors, and communications consultants to ensure the execution and dissemination of reports in a timely and effective fashion
  • Stay abreast of the latest updates in the COVID-19 pandemic, such as announcements from the federal government, manufacturing and distribution updates, and the latest research by academics and physicians
  • Assist in drafting pitch materials to place stories in media publications and medical journals
  • Contribute to op-eds and native editorial content on PrEP4All’s website
  • Maintain relationships with key academics and advocates at research institutions, nonprofit organizations, and universities
  • Drive PrEP4All’s strategy and research priorities for COVID-19 with a particular focus on effective execution

Advocacy

  • Personally represent PrEP4All in meetings regarding COVID-19 with policymakers in Congress, the White House, federal agencies, and other government bodies
  • Develop a comprehensive campaign-style strategy for PrEP4All’s COVID-19 program, including public-facing strategy and advocacy within the federal government
  • Assist in drafting advocacy materials such as talking points, sign-on letters, and briefs
  • Represent PrEP4All in relevant coalitions such as the People’s Vaccine Alliance
  • Assist in the execution of actions and demonstrations targeting government officials when necessary
  • Cultivate influential issue advocates, academics, and other influential figures; develop and execute strategies to mobilize these advocates effectively

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working in public health policy advocacy
  • Strong track record of providing advice to and influencing senior policymakers
  • Deep knowledge of relevant issues impeding access to COVID-19 vaccines and the pharmaceutical industry
  • Deep knowledge of public health, epidemiology, molecular biology, or chemistry
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work with teams of consultants, and meet deadlines
  • Flexible approach to work in a dynamic and constantly changing policy landscape; self-motivated to learn on the job
  • Outstanding attention to detail and proven ability to independently advance research projects
  • Experience working in complex multi-stakeholder environments, and ability to quickly gain and understand their political dynamics
  • Strong communications and writing skills including the ability to communicate complex messages to broad audiences
  • Ability to “manage up,” both within the organization and with influential external advocates
  • Commitment to social justice and access to medicines is essential

Location & Hours

As a fully remote organization, PrEP4All encourages candidates based anywhere in the United States to apply so long as they can work within PrEP4All’s office hours (9am-5pm ET).
