ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION

For more than 20 years, Girls Write Now has been a leader in arts education as New York’s first and only writing and mentoring organization for girls. We match underserved teen girls and gender nonconforming youth with professional writers and digital media makers as their personal mentors. Our mentees are published in outlets including The New York TimesNewsweek, and BuzzFeed, perform at Lincoln Center and the United Nations, and earn hundreds of Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. 100% of Girls Write Now seniors are accepted to college. The organization has been distinguished three times by the White House as one of the nation’s top youth programs and twice by the Nonprofit Excellence Awards as one of New York’s top ten nonprofits. Reaching over 6,000 girls annually in all 51 council districts, Girls Write Now is a founding partner of the New York City Council’s STARS Citywide Girls Initiative.

POSITION SUMMARY

Girls Write Now is seeking a part-time Salesforce Administrator with extensive Salesforce, FormAssembly and Conga experience. This person will have a close eye to our programmatic needs and organizational structure, allowing them to drive our Salesforce priorities and initiatives from start to finish.

The Salesforce Administrator will work on various projects, including but not limited to mapping FormAssembly connectors and testing complex forms, mapping and testing Conga reports, using data loading software, cleaning up current objects and fields, creating child objects and new fields, creating new record and layout types, and integrating Campaign Monitor and Zoom with our Salesforce platform. This person will also research and report back on other various platforms we can integrate with our Salesforce system to increase efficiency.

The person in this position is expected to provide staff training and documentation in an effort to share and spread Salesforce knowledge across teams and programs.

In addition to extensive experience in Salesforce, the ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, collaborative, and excited to be part of our dedicated team. Candidates must be open to feedback, interested in being challenged, and eager to approach Salesforce with our programming and organizational structure in mind.

The Salesforce Administrator will work closely with our Community and Development Teams to plan project timelines and deliverables.

For the foreseeable future, this will be a remote position, with the addition of in-person meetings once safe to do so. This position is projected to extend from November 2020 through April 2021, with the possibility for further continuation. Over the course of the project, some months will be more intensive than others.

This is a part-time staff position. Pay will be commensurate with candidate experience.

PROJECTED TIMELINE & DELIVERABLES

  • Month 1: Map and test FormAssembly to Salesforce connectors for multiple forms, update records, import data from excel to Salesforce, and map and test Conga reports. Research and report back on cost-effective platforms Girls Write Now can integrate with Salesforce.
  • Month 2: Clean up our Salesforce platform including but not limited to editing layouts, editing/replacing fields, and creating formula fields. Continue ongoing mapping, data importing, and integration projects.
  • Month 3: Continue ongoing mapping, data importing, cleanup, and integration projects.
  • Month 4: Make suggestions for our extensive mentee/mentor program applications and year-end forms (created on FormAssembly) based on best practices, map FormAssembly to Salesforce connectors, and run testing to ensure connectors work correctly.
  • Month 5: Map and test enrollment related Conga reports.

In addition to the above, the Salesforce Administrator is expected to provide virtual training sessions and supporting documentation for all Girls Write Now staff members.

PRIORITY CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Scientific Problem-Solving: Our staff are practical, analytical, and solution-oriented who observe, research, ask questions, and come to the table prepared. They are expected to report back, get feedback, iterate, and test out new approaches to complete the job.
  • Ownership of Work: The Salesforce Administrator will have autonomy of their work as they build out our systems and training process and materials. Tasks are the steps towards the goals, not an end in themselves. When confronted with an obstacle we expect staff to seek help where needed, and find another pathway. The ideal candidate is proactive and goal-oriented.
  • Team Player: The Salesforce Administrator must thrive in a collaborative environment and have a willingness to work across teams and initiatives.
  • Systems-Oriented: This person would approach projects knowing their colleagues may need to access them now or in the future—leaving behind a blueprint, documenting and archiving their work to contribute to our collective institutional knowledge.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: As much as we try to develop systems and schedules, we are constantly evolving, adapting, and growing. This means the Salesforce Administrator would need to think on their feet, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable.
  • Anticipate Needs: The person in this position must be able to anticipate our Salesforce needs given their understanding of our programming and organizational structure. The Salesforce Administrator will be able to build connectors and conduct data cleanup unprompted, and offer suggestions on how best to meet our Salesforce and other systems-oriented goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significant experience with Salesforce, FormAssembly, Dataloader.io, Conga reports, and Campaign Monitor
  • Past experience working on projects involving similar organizational needs
  • Knowledge of best practices for Salesforce and mapping
  • Willingness to understand program needs and organizational structure, and ability to incorporate that knowledge into Salesforce projects and planning
  • Experience training staff on Salesforce and creating clean supplemental documentation and/or recordings
  • Enthusiasm to work collaboratively, iteratively, and efficiently in a team setting, and changing course as needed
