Job Title: Resident Services Coordinator

Report To: Director, Housing Programs

Transition House is a leader in the field addressing domestic violence intervention and prevention. We serve people of all ages and backgrounds as we work toward social equity and system change to end the perpetuation of gender based violence. With deep roots in Cambridge, Massachusetts for over 40 years, our model advances cross-sector partnerships so that ending violence is embraced as a shared responsibility and an ongoing priority.

Duties/responsibilities:

·        Coordinates holistic support services with residents of Transition House long-tern supported housing program.

·        Conducts intakes, assesses and addresses residents' needs, provides comprehensive advocacy, coordinates referrals, and tracks client progress. 

·        Initiates contact and serves as liaison with many community-based social service, counseling, health care, housing and legal services programs to provide appropriate resources.

·        Accompanies residents to court dates, benefits hearings, housing hearings, and other essential appointments to advocate as appropriate. 

·        Prepares case reports and participates in weekly case reviews with housing program staff. 

·        Participates in regular supervision.

·        Identifies and develops opportunities for residents and their children to engage in skill building programs to support their success as they overcome trauma and regain independence.

·        Takes part in professional development opportunities. 

·        Assists with crisis intervention/resolution. 

·        Works closely with all staff to coordinate a continuum of services to residents.

·        Provides or arranges for translation assistance as appropriate.


Qualifications: 


-BA in psychology, social work or related fields required. Masters in related field preferred.

- Certification and knowledge around substance abuse prevention a plus.

-High level of comfort working within a diverse and multicultural environment.

Experience with extremely marginalized people including individuals who are homeless, mentally ill, substance abusing or victims of domestic violence is strongly preferred.

-Proven leadership skills and self-motivation.

-Expertise providing trauma-informed advocacy and motivational support for individuals and families.

-Ability to develop and sustain strong collaborations with colleagues from multiple external community organizations. 

-Must be extremely well organized, punctual and skilled at time management.

-Ability to communicate effectively and creatively with adults and children of varying ages.

-Superior written and oral communication skills in English.

- Knowledge of other language/s a plus.

-High level of proficiency with the Internet and Microsoft Office Suite. 

-Able to climb stairs frequently, bend and lift items up to 30 pounds.

-Valid Driver’s License a plus

Education

College level Education Preferred. Bi-lingual strongly preferred.

Experience

Two to five years or more of human services Experience, especially working with individual/family who have been affected by Domestic Violence. Knowledge of resources and issues that affect battered women and children. Crisis intervention experience.

Mental Process

Requires excellent organizational and communication skills. The ability to deal with ever changing environment and diversity of different components of Transition House. Ability to work with a multi-cultural, multi-lingual work environment. Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills required.

Physical Demands

Varied standing, sitting, walking and lifting. Ability to drive a car or use public transportation in order to commute between different locations relevant to the position and Transition House. Ability to complete documentation and use of office equipment. Ability to transport residents/children and similar activities detailed in the job description for the position.
