Campaign/ Research Coordinator - Climate

The Private Equity Stakeholder Project is a nonprofit financial watchdog organization that researches and reports on private equity investments and their impacts on people and the planet, working with communities and other stakeholders to bring about change.

PESP’s Climate team is seeking a Research/Campaign Coordinator for strategic research and data analysis on campaigns that address the role of private equity in driving the climate crisis.

Under the direction of the Research Director, the Coordinator will work collaboratively with other team members to develop campaign strategies, priorities, and action plans to advance greater climate-related accountability and transparency by private asset managers. The Coordinator will conduct research on energy investments, build and analyze data related to private equity investments across energy sectors, write reports and blog posts, directly engage institutional investors, support partnerships with stakeholder groups and coalitions.

About the Position:

Location: Remote

Responsibilities:

• Identify research topics, track private equity investment trends, conduct research on energy investments and climate/environmental justice impacts.
• Write well-documented reports based on research and data analysis for various audiences (stakeholders, investors, activists).
• Participate in planning and implementation of strategies focused on private asset manager investment practices in energy.
• Contribute to building and managing data sets and conduct data analysis.
• Work with communications team to develop visualizations, report layout, media strategy.
• Build strong relationships with partner organizations to support the work of communities impacted by private equity’s fossil fuels investments (e.g. frontline communities, environmental justice organizations, climate-focused groups and coalitions).
• Engage institutional investors around their responsible investment practices.
• Contribute to effectiveness of overall organization through collaboration with other team members, organizational strategy development, supporting internal operations.
• Some travel required.

Experience & Skills:

• Strong commitment to social, economic and climate justice; experience working with diverse constituencies.
• At least three years of strategic research experience.
• Experience with analyzing and modeling environmental impact data.
• Experience with data management platforms like Airtable/SQL, data analysis tools like R or Python and data visualization tools.
• Strong communication and writing skills, including ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders such as investors, policymakers, media, unions, and community-based organizations.
• Knowledge of financial advocacy within the context of the climate or environmental movement.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with team.
• Climate justice organizing experience a plus

The compensation and benefits

• The salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000 commensurate with skills and experience plus excellent benefits that include medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a retirement savings 401(k) plan.
