Home Grown, a national collaborative of funders, envisions a country in which all children have the care they need to reach their full potential, home-based child care providers offer quality child care, and parents have equal access to quality child care for their children. To achieve this vision, Home Grown will remove policy barriers, strengthen home-based child care practices and business models, and support the growth and recognition of the sector so that all providers offer quality care and parents choose quality care. 

Home Grown seeks a Community Engagement Coordinator to lead the organization’s partnership and support of home-based child care provider leaders. Home Grown believes that provider and parent voice should inform policy decisions and action, and we seek to support the leadership development of home-based child care providers. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, convening, and supporting Home Grown’s network of home-based child care providers receiving grants to lead local grassroots networks. This position will support additional Home Grown initiatives, including Home Grown’s Provider Advisory group and projects with state and local governments to build and sustain effective networks that support home-based child care providers. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, mission-driven, and comfortable in a fast-moving and adaptive environment. 

Home Grown is based at the Health Federation of Philadelphia.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Responsibilities/Duties

·      Develop relationships and collaborate deeply with Home Grown’s network of 10-12 Provider Leaders to support their leadership and advocacy efforts. Support Provider Leaders in problem identification and goal setting.

·      Coordinate technical assistance activities. 

·      Support data collection and communications with community partners and Provider Leaders. 

·      Identify, plan and manage logistics of Community of Practice meetings and activities. 

·      Facilitate Communities of Practice, workshops, and conversations with providers, experts, and advocates. 

·      Support education and capacity building to build leadership and skills of Provider Leaders and their networks to analyze harmful systems, develop strategies for social change, and take collective action to create sustainable social change.

·      Understand and describe needs of providers and partners to feed Home Grown’s policy agenda. 

·      Lift providers’ local needs, voices, and stories to feed Home Grown’s Movement Building activities and coalition partners.

·      Liaise with Home Grown technical assistance and policy partners. 

·      Manage various administrative and project management activities (e.g., scheduling, invoicing, etc).

·      Support Home Grown initiatives with state and local governments aimed at building and sustaining effective networks that support providers’ quality, sustainability, and comprehensive services. 

·      Co-facilitate Home Grown’s Provider Advisory group and committees of family child care (FCC) and family, friend, and neighbor (FFN) providers. 

·      Contribute to the organization’s communications, including presentations, briefs, and newsletters. 

·      Develop workflow of assigned projects to ensure efficient management of administrative and project deliverables. 

·      Monitor and report on the performance and activities of assigned initiatives. .  

·      Serve as a resource to partners, funders, and stakeholders seeking information or engagement supports. 

·      Reflect on data and analyze trends to make recommendations to improve project impact.


Education

·     Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, early childhood education, or related areas.


Skills/Experience

·      At least 3 years of experience in a nonprofit, consulting or social enterprise setting.

·      Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

·      Experience in early childhood education, child care, or home visiting strongly preferred. 

·      Solid understanding of nonprofit education, early education or family support systems.

·      Experience in a face-paced environment like a start-up preferred.

·      Ability to work remotely.

·      Experience and skill facilitating Communities of Practice, workshops, and conversations, both in-person and online.

·      Strong interpersonal skills.

·      Culturally competent, empathetic, and strongly oriented to support diverse stakeholders from various communities.

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse audiences.

·      High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, and Excel), familiarity and comfort with presentation tools 

·      Ability to work independently, manage projects end-to-end, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
