Job Title: Campaign Coordinator

Reports to: Campaign Director

Start Date: ASAP

Salary Range: $70,000 to $85,000 depending on experience

Location: remote, some time-shifted work is probable

Powering Past Combustion Campaign/End ICE Overview: The End ICE Campaign is a new campaign focused on phasing out internal combustion engines(ice) from our transportation systems worldwide. Transportation is quickly becoming the leading source of carbon pollution in large parts of the world. In order to avoid the worst of carbon change, we must immediately phase out ICE vehicles. This Campaign focuses on pushing government and auto/truck manufacturers to make these changes as quickly as possible.

Purpose: The Powering Past Combustion Campaign/End ICE seeks a mid-level Campaign Coordinator to add to our growing team. This person will work under the Campaign Director to advance the Campaign's policy priorities, maintain strong working relationships with coalition members, policymakers, allies, and other key stakeholders.

Candidates should have organizing or coalition management experience with strong written and verbal communications skills, politically savvy, working knowledge of climate or transportation issues, and a commitment to ground their work in social justice.

Key Responsibilities

●    Coordinate a coalition of groups dedicated to ending internal combustion engines, decarbonizing the supply chain, and holding companies to their promises

●    Work closely with the Director to develop campaign strategy and tactics

●    Implement and facilitate coalition strategies and tactics, while also looking for ways to raise up the work of coalition members

●    Proactively look for ways to grow the coalition membership and increase member engagement

●    Represent the coalition in advocacy forums, conferences, and other relevant venues

●    Organize coalition meetings and outreach efforts (e.g., sign-on letters, events, briefings, etc.)

●    Monitor and report on legislation, regulations, and policy developments on transportation electrification plans that impact this campaign

●    Research and prepare one-pagers, internal memos, tracking sheets and other content as needed

●    Work with communications consultants on the creation of social guidance, message guidance, and other communications tools that help to advance the campaign

●    Build and maintain exceptional professional relationships with other NGOs

●    Help manage coalition retreats and events, when applicable

●    This position offers a significant opportunity to expand the reach and influence of the organization

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

●    Ability to read and speak fluent Japanese is highly desirable

●    Preferred working knowledge of climate and/or transportation issues

●    3-5 years of relevant work experience

●    Demonstrated ability to develop and leverage strong working relationships with key decision-makers, partners, and diverse stakeholders

●    Strong written and verbal communications skills, including excellent writing and editing skills, persuasive communication, and public presentation and/or meeting facilitation skills

●    Competency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

●    Appreciation for digital advocacy, grassroots organizing, and movement building

●    Team player who works well with others and can manage multiple projects, including in urgent situations

●    Willing to take initiative, exercise good judgment, and use diplomacy and discretion

●    Desired: Previous experience with an issue campaign

●    Knowledge of Japan’s political scene is a plus

COMPENSATION:

●    Salary commensurate with experience ($70K-85K)
