JOB SUMMARY

The Counselor Advocate reports directly to the Supervising Counselor Advocate. The Counselor Advocate will provide holistic case management to the survivors of human trafficking and be part of a team committed to the restoration of each survivor. The ideal candidate for this role has trainings and experiences in providing trauma-informed care, working with individuals with trauma and can complete administrative tasks related to daily work in a timely and professional manner.

 

This is a full-time position located in New York City. The Counselor Advocate is currently a remote position and eventually will work at Restore’s Midtown office. The shifts are generally Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. or 9 a.m. – 5p.m.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Assist Referral Manager with referrals, intakes, trafficking identification, crisis intervention, safety planning, accompaniment, and resource coordination

·       Provide comprehensive case-management services to survivors of trafficking through advocacy, education, and resource coordination

·       Conduct ongoing strengths and needs assessment, safety planning, crisis prevention plans, and individualized service plans with clients

·       Conduct crisis response, responding to calls from law enforcement partners (federal and local) and assist with trafficking identification and emergency service provision to potential survivors of trafficking

·       Complete required documentation timely and professionally

·       Practice trauma informed, culturally and linguistically sensitive, survivor-centered practices in all interactions with clients, staff, service-provider organizations, and other stakeholders

·       Ensure adherence to HIPPA requirements as well as APA, ACA, and NASW ethical guidelines

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·       Identify with the Christian faith

·       Spanish fluency

·       Proficiency in trauma-informed care

·       Experience working with individuals impacted by trauma and/or at-risk populations

·       Possess strong organizational skills with ability to meet a demanding workload

·       Strong relational skills and engagement with survivors

·       Deep commitment to the healing and well-being of survivors of trafficking

·       Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       Master's degree from accredited college or university in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling

·       Professionally licensed in New York State (preferable) or license-eligible (acceptable)
