Description

Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Partnerships, the Manager of AmeriCorps & Public Funding will work closely with campuses and teams to secure and manage a growing portfolio of public funds. This individual will be responsible for writing public grant proposals and reports, including AmeriCorps applications and reports, responding to public RFPs, and developing strong systems, tools, and processes to enable the institution to manage public funding effectively. This individual will play a critical role in enabling the institution to serve more teachers and school leaders across the country.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create compelling materials to secure and steward public funds, including grant proposals and reports, responses to public RFPs, presentations, and Relay program overviews and updates
  • Build the systems and processes needed to collect and compile information (data, stories, financials) to steward public funds
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with public funding program officers and contacts (state and federal), in liaison with the Senior Director, Public Partnerships and AmeriCorps program team
  • Manage existing portfolio of public awards
  • Collaborate with state and federal grant management staff as well as Relay teams to ensure full compliance with public grants
  • Partner with program teams and campuses across the country to stay closely abreast of organizational progress and priorities
  • Attend relevant trainings and convenings as needed in support of public funding
  • Conduct targeted research to identify and pursue new public funding opportunities
  • Continue to identify new ways to evolve current systems to ensure that donor and grant management is efficient and can scale to meeting the needs of a growing organization
  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure philanthropic goals and activities align with the organization’s budget
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned


QUALIFICATIONS


First and foremost, the Manager of AmeriCorps & Public Funding must share the Relay sense of urgency about the need to improve student achievement through phenomenal teacher and school leader training. Additionally, candidates for the position must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3-5 years’ work experience, including experience with public funding
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills
  • Impeccable organization and attention to detail skills
  • Fluency in grant budgeting and reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to travel to in-person trainings as needed
  • Ability to work efficiently, intensely, and within an entrepreneurial environment
  • Open to considering candidates interested in working 80% time
  • A demonstrated passion for urban education and closing the opportunity gap
  • Authorized to work in the United States
