    Job Description

    Conduct lectures, engage in educational activities for students, and provide research guidance related to one or more of the Interdisciplinary Perspectives course(s) at the UTokyo College of Design. Interdisciplinary Perspectives are made up of the following five courses.

    ① Environment & Sustainability

    ② Technology Frontiers & AI

    ③ Governance & Markets

    ④ Healthcare & Wellbeing

    ⑤ Culture & Society

    Faculty members are responsible for a range of educational activities (including but not limited to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students, participating in their extracurricular activities, etc.) and carrying out the administrative tasks (including curriculum and organization management, and admissions) required to maintain an effective academic environment. Please note that all courses and educational activities at the College of Design will be conducted in English.

    Qualifications

    Required

    1. A doctoral degree or equivalent track record of research achievements.
    2. Have outstanding research achievements in one of the fields listed in the job description and have the ability to conduct education and research guidance at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
    3. Adaptable and flexible to respond to a new and pioneering project.
    4. Effective teamwork skills for successful work between different individuals and teams, both internal and external.
    5. The candidates must have the ability to communicate professionally in English.

    Desirable

    1. Experience or enthusiasm for actively engaging in educational and research activities in collaboration with other academic disciplines.
    2. Experience in the planning and delivery of new curriculum, taking part in admission systems, designing program resources, and facility planning (e.g. workshops and equipment)

    Commuter allowance (conditions apply) JPY55,000 per month maximum

    Paid Leave

    Annual paid leave, refreshment leave, congratulatory or condolence leave, etc. Annual paid leave is 20 days per year (the number of paid leave days in the year of employment differs depending on the month of appointment).

    Eligible for MEXT* Mutual Aid Association (health insurance and pension schemes), employees’ pension, employment insurance, and workers’ accident compensation insurance in accordance with laws and regulations.
