Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm in Skid Row and in Downtown Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants, working-poor families, people who have disabilities or are experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, and homeless veterans.

Position Description: ICLC is searching for a dynamic manager and attorney to design, implement, and lead a legal services program intended to reduce homelessness across Los Angeles County. This groundbreaking program began in February 2018 and will reduce homelessness by assuring that homeless and at risk of homeless youth, families, and individuals receive a wide array of legal services that enable them to overcome barriers to becoming and remaining housed. The Directing Attorney will lead a team of ICLC attorneys and paralegals in providing high-quality legal services with the assistance of senior attorneys with subject matter expertise and will oversee a consortium of six premier legal services organizations working in coordination with the leading homeless service providers in Los Angeles. The program will implement a “whatever it takes” approach to removing legal barriers to housing – including public benefits assistance, eviction defense, citation defense, domestic violence restraining orders, and other representation in many other matters impacting clients' housing. The Directing Attorney will be responsible for assuring that the team and our partners meet grant deliverables. The Directing Attorney will serve as ICLC's ambassador to community organizations and government agencies and perform other duties as needed.

Hiring Criteria: Demonstrated history of building and running successful legal services programs. The ideal candidate would have at least seven years of experience managing attorneys and legal projects and have a thorough understanding of the provision of legal services to low income clients. Commitment to ICLC's mission and values. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Innovative and solution-oriented. Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting low-income communities and communities of color. Ability to assume responsibility quickly and work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use good judgment, multitask and meet deadlines. Ability to work productively with pro bono co-counsel. Membership in the California Bar or another State Bar required.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.
