    Description

    The Member Resource Center (MRC) Organizer position is a non-field staff position, currently participating in a 2-year pilot program working mostly from home, responsible for a combination of duties and responsibilities that include:

    Support bargaining unit members, through grievance processing, contract administration and working with state agencies.

    Designing, planning and implementing steward training and development programs.

    Supporting activists, and processing grievances of SEIU Local 925 members through managing the MRC intake (phone, email, etc.).

    Ensuring accurate and timely case-related data/document management using the employer’s data/document management system.

    Communicating with employers regarding grievances and contract enforcement.

    Communicating with the internal organizing teams and directors about organizing issues raised by member communications to the MRC.

    May assist and/or lead in collective bargaining

    May handle mediations, arbitrations, and unfair labor practices

    May participate in public policy activities such as legislative and political work.

    Other related duties as assigned.

    SEIU 925 is a dynamic, growing union of education professionals across Washington. We are looking for a full time Member Resource Center Organizer to work with members to organize at their workplace, resolve grievances, and develop member stewarding skills. The right person will be able to balance a high level of attention to detail and ability to build a case with empathy for workers who are experiencing conflict at work. Are you that person?

    Qualifications:

    Experience working alongside communities of color and/or immigrant and refugee communities strongly preferred, as is fluency in a second language.

    Ability to manage multiple competing priorities at once and prioritize appropriately.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Familiarity with office software, database usage, and remote technologies.

    Must have in home highspeed internet and the ability to work uninterrupted while remote in your home.

    Must have a driver’s license, a vehicle, and proof of current personal auto insurance policy as a condition of employment.

    Must be flexible around scheduling and ability to work beyond the 9-5, M-F norm.

    Benefits

    This position is covered by a Staff Union with a collective bargaining agreement which includes; Competitive salary ranging from $71,036 to $107,497 dependent on experience, with an additional car and tech allowance, a strong benefit package including fully employer funded pension, fully paid family healthcare, 14 paid holidays a year plus additional personal holidays, and generous time off accrual.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Experience working alongside communities of color and/or immigrant and refugee communities strongly preferred, as is fluency in a second language.
