Summary:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accounting Manager is an integral team member providing general accounting and financial duties and support to the entire organization.

  • Direct oversight of daily bank and investment account activity and prepare all associated journal entries; prepare grant submission files to the bank in the required format
  • Assist with reconciling bank and investment statements, the monthly close and audit and tax returns
  • Prepare budget and financial analysis, as requested
  • Provide client customer service and pursue issue resolution
  • Prepare and file annual state registrations
  • Review and recommend accounting policies and internal controls
  • Support the CFO in other duties, as assigned

Education, Experience and Skills:

Ideal candidates will have a current CPA and a BS or Masters degree in Accounting and have worked in a similar role for a minimum of 7 years (experience with non-profit organizations is a plus). The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with clients on a daily basis. You must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment but excel at creating structure and schedule in order to meet deadlines. The ability to work independently but know when to communicate information and be comfortable communicating to all levels in the organization is critical. It is important to be able to juggle many assigned responsibilities while remaining detail oriented and organized. Other important skills include strong Microsoft Excel knowledge and extensive experience with accounting software (Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge, a plus but, is not required).
