POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Digital Communications Associate is a full-time remotely based position and reports directly to the Chief Communications and Development Officer. The selected applicant will provide bilingual digital communications to increase the visibility and impact of HAF’s education programs across the nation. The programs include Conservation, MANO Project, Latino Conservation Week, Latino Advocacy Week, Hispanic Leadership Network and Our Heritage, Our Planet Film Week. The Associate will work closely with HAF staff, media representatives, faith-based and community leaders. The applicant must be fully bilingual, well organized, tech savvy, professional, and an outstanding problem solver. The candidate must display flexibility and excellent attention to detail. The candidate should be highly motivated, have excellent time-management skills, demonstrate sensitivity to working with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, and be willing to travel nationally.

ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media

●       Implement social media strategies for the organization and programs

●       Increase HAF’s social media following

●       Increase HAF’s social media activity on all platforms

●       Post on HAF platforms daily

●       Stay current on trends and opportunities

●       Tracking and reporting outcomes

Graphic Design

●       Will serve as the primary designer for HAF toolkits, whitepapers, flyers, and other program needs

●       Will develop graphics for social media

●       Will manage the development and production of Annual Impact Reports (organization, LCW, MANO)

●       Will handle graphic design needs for HAF’s fundraising

●       Will assist staff in the development of publications and presentations

●       Will ensure consistent visual branding

Videography

●       Develop short videos and webisodes for HAF programs – includes shooting content and editing

●       Will develop short video testimonials, program ads, etc.

●       Assist in the development of HAF’s feature films

Digital Media

●       Will serve as the organization lead for HAF’s multiple website properties

●       Will maintain and update website properties on a regular basis (weekly posts)

●       Will lead the development, production and distribution of HAF’s monthly newsletter

●       Will assist in developing new media initiatives

Program Comms Support

●       Provide writing support as needed for materials, press releases, newsletter, etc.

●       Meet weekly with programs and communications teams

●       Help implement program strategies through digital media

●       Tracking results and impact in database

●       Assisting with reports to partners and funders

●       Help maintain HAF database

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

●       A bachelor's in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Affairs, Marketing or similar fields, and/or related work experience

●       One to three years of experience related to digital communications

●       Fluent written and oral skills in both Spanish/English

●       Excellent communication and intercultural skills

●       Outstanding attention to detail, highly organized

●       Highly collaborative work style, strong work ethic, results-oriented approach to work

●       Creativity and flexibility to undertake new assignments and identify new opportunities

●       Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator)

●       Proficiency with video production software (Final Cut and/or Adobe Premiere)

●       Proficiency with managing multiple social media accounts and platforms

●       Demonstrated excellence working with and communicating with a wide range of people

●       Ability and willingness to work in a virtual environment

 LOCATION

This is a remotely based position. The location of this position is flexible; however, the Washington DC metro area is preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $40,00-$50,000 annually depending on qualifications and experience.
