Stuart Hall is a multi-faceted Episcopal day and boarding school for 300 students, with a day program PreK-12 and a boarding program 8-12. Dynamic and forward-looking, Stuart Hall is in a period of growth and evolution. Founded in 1844, the school has deep roots, but a progressive strategic vision. The next Director of Enrollment Management will play a strategic role during an important period in the school’s history.

Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Director of Enrollment Management will work to build an optimal enrollment comprised of day and boarding, male and female, and domestic and international students, while maximizing net tuition revenue.

Specifically, the Director of Enrollment Management will:

  • Manage the program of admissions for new students, including presenting the School to prospective students and parents, handling applications and communication with candidates and their parents systematically and efficiently; interviewing candidates and their parents; arranging for admissions testing; securing necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.

·       Working with the Director of Marketing and Communication, manage the re-enrollment of current students for the succeeding year, overseeing retention activities so that all key stakeholders know their role in helping to retain students.

  • Evaluate continually and redesign, where appropriate, all aspects of the enrollment management program, with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a wait-list of qualified applicants that consists of at least 10 percent of the maximum class size for each grade.

  • Oversee the admissions office staff, developing a team approach while holding individual members accountable on weekly, monthly and yearly goals.

·       Create and manage the admissions budget and use funding wisely, particularly in the area of travel; will understand his or her role in the success of the School’s overall budget.

  • Work with the Director of Marketing and Communication to ensure the production of appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings and publications.

·       Study the trends in international admissions and create annual travel plans based on a healthy balance of current and emerging markets.

·       Develop a plan for using current domestic and international consultants and agents and create relationships with new consultants.

  • With the Chief Business Officer, organize and administer the financial aid and scholarship process, working to build the school community needed for success and assuring allocation of financial aid for best application as a tool in a net tuition revenue model.
  • Represent the School at local, regional and national events and conferences.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communication, cultivate relationships with the broader community (including businesses, organizations, consultants, parents, and alumni) to encourage referrals for admission.
  • Facilitate, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications and other appropriate staff and faculty members, School events that benefit the community and the School as recruitment tools and retention initiatives.

·       Monitor enrollment in each class so that admissions efforts are tailored toward balance in all categories, including financial aid.

·       Get to know and appreciate all aspects of the school; attend school events and classes when possible so that comments to prospects are fresh and pertinent. Expect the same of team members and direct reports.

·       Along with staff, be out of the office frequently, meeting with consultants and prospective families.

·       Manage volunteers effectively.

·       Ensure that all campus visits elevate the impression of the school, including appropriate information before, during, and after a visit.

·       Coach staff in the process of yielding families and converting inquiries into enrolled students.

  • Maintain relevant statistics on all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment program.
  • Contribute to the administrative team and keep team members, Board members, and faculty up-to-date on progress.
  • Support the School and its leadership.

The successful candidate will have the following characteristics:

·       Significant experience in the independent school admissions process; Master’s Degree preferred.

·       Is passionate about young people and their educational opportunities.

·       Gets up every day thinking, “What can I do to make sure we attract and retain as many qualified students as possible?”

·       Is aware of local, national, and international trends in admissions and uses that information effectively to direct work.

·       Is aware of the competition—locally, nationally, and internationally—and tailors works based on that knowledge.

·       Embraces a new plan if goals are not attained.

·       Excels in a travel, especially international travel.

·       Is connected with other admissions directors and is involved in associations to remain abreast of current trends.

·       Has strong oral and written communication skills.

·       Is organized, detail oriented and goal driven.

·       Is a strong leader but also excels at working as a member of a team.

The Director of Enrollment Management will have a high degree of autonomy while working as a member of a dynamic administrative team to build a strong PreK-12 community where students are prepared for engaged, healthy lives of intellectual curiosity, creativity and contribution.
