As of this posting, The Bay School is conducting school in-person. Job Scope: The Student Activities Coordinator works to support the Student Life program in the key areas of student clubs, student social events (i.e. dances, community events, etc.), and student leadership development. The Student Activities Coordinator seeks to build student engagement and foster community through various programs and events. The Student Activities Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating and facilitating the programs that develop student leadership skills school-wide but especially among designated student leaders, managing the selection process for student leadership groups, and overseeing student clubs. 

Major Responsibilities for the Student Activities Coordinator: 

Student Life (70%): 

  • Oversees the Social Events Club, attends all meetings and evening events 
  • Serves as a clubs coordinator working to develop programming to enhance leadership skills among student club leaders, ensures that each club has a sponsor and meeting space, and assesses the effectiveness of our clubs program 
  • Works with the Dean of Students and grade-level class deans while attending and supporting grade-level orientations, retreats, and Student Life events as needed
  • Maintains general student life records, distributes the Student Announcements email, and manages the Enrichment, Summer, Internship database 
  • Serves as a grade-level advisor or co-advisor 
  • Other duties as assigned

Teaching (10%): 

  • Teaches 2 sections of 9th-Grade Seminar each semester (total 4 sections per year; each section meets 1x/wk) 
  • Meets weekly with other teachers of 9th Grade Seminar to review and debrief the curriculum 

Bay Community (20%): 

  • Study hall monitor duties as assigned and on-call substitute coverage for faculty Provides as-needed assistance with the Immersive program (see the school website for a description of our Immersive program) 
  • Supports with Morning Meeting management and lunch supervision 
  • Serves on the campus beautification committee by maintaining a log of school bulletin boards and display areas, watering plants, and ordering supplies 
  • Attends staffulty meetings (August institute, June meetings, once a month all-staffulty meetings) 
  • Represents Student Life in athletic and admissions programs and events 
  • Other support duties as assigned 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Must be able to lift #50lbs 
  • Must have a clear and valid California Driver’s License 
  • Must have a clear LiveScan 
  • Must successfully complete the following trainings: CPR, Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment
  • Must be able to work in a shared workspace 
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends (8-10 events per year)
