Campaign Coordinator

As our campaign coordinator, you develop and implement strategic coalition campaigns to advance workers’ rights and economic justice in San Francisco, with regional and statewide coordination and impact. You will be responsible for your own set of campaigns among those prioritized by the Jobs with Justice SF coalition. Your organizational priorities will also include building power by strengthening solidarity between coalition organizations, member turnout and grassroots fundraising.

You will be an integral part of a collaborative staff team that develops, plans, coordinates, and wins collective coalition campaigns. You contribute to the overall strategic direction of the coalition by supporting the coalition’s overall annual campaign planning processes, and providing direct insight into this process.

As part of a small team, it’s important that staff members are able to work collaboratively with good communication skills and with the flexibility to take on different projects in often fast-changing conditions. Being able to take initiative and work independently is also key.

Responsibilities:

Campaign Coordination (75%)

• Coordinate designated priority campaigns, as decided by Executive Director and staff
• Build and convene campaign coalition of community and labor groups
•  Coordinate planning, implementation and evaluation of campaigns for which coordinator is the staff lead
• Support campaign-related activities including strategic research, policy development, action planning, communications and leadership development
•  Coordinate documentation of campaign activities
• Collaborate with other staff on annual coalition campaign planning and evaluation processes

Coalition & Power Building (10%)

• Working with other staff, ensure creation & implementation of a concise, clear power building plan for engaging our organizational members and allied individuals
• Coordinate requests for solidarity between member organizations and turnout
• Build relationships with broader allies

Communications (5%)

•  Provide strategic communications support for individual campaigns

Fundraising (5%)

• Support grassroots fundraising in alignment with base building work
• Grow our sustainer base through periodic peer to peer fundraising campaigns, house parties or other grassroots fundraising events with staff support
• Coordinate the annual fundraiser with staff support

Governance, Fundraising & Administration (5%)

• Occasional support, as needed (e.g. support with drafting coalition processes, meeting agendas, attending funder meetings, compiling data for reports)

Qualifications

•  5 - 7 years previous experience in labor and/or community organizing with a commitment to economic and racial justice
• Ability to effectively manage a workload with competing priorities and deadlines, work independently, and take initiative
• Ability to build strong relationships and move to action with people from diverse backgrounds in a multi-racial organization
• Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish a plus
• Digital organizing skills and experience a plus
• Ability to research related policy issues a plus

Working conditions

Willingness to travel, work long and sometimes irregular hours.

Salary range: $64-74k DOE. Excellent benefits package with generous vacation, family healthcare and 401k. Union represented position with OPEIU Local 29.

Position is for one year with likely extension dependent on funding.

During shelter in place, we will be working remotely but will transition to in-person when safe and possible.
