    Description

    Choices4Teens Mentoring Group is a community based after school mentoring

    group that empowers youth to expand and manage life choices toward achieving

    individual potential. We provide a reality-based curriculum for middle school

    students ages 11-14 to address various topics and issues related to

    drugs, gangs, and violence prevention. We have joined forces with Mass

    Mentoring Partnership to provide a quality based, culturally responsive safe and

    positive group with caring adults.

    As a mentor, you will be in the classroom interacting with the children in a group

    setting and occasional one on one. You must complete 4 hours of mandatory

    training.

    Mentor Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Must be able to work for 12 weeks
    • Must work/volunteer minimum of 3 hours per week
    • Attend and facilitate after school mentoring group from 3:00pm to 5:30pm

    (October session and/or March session) at designated site

    • Assist with program planning, implementation and evaluating creative service

    that engage and reward youth involvement.

    • At the beginning and end of each class you will be required to assist all Mentors
    • You will be required to report any problems, concerns, and observations-

    positive or negative to the Team Leader within 24hrs

    • You will be required to travel with your students to and from any field trips.

    You may not be absent for more than 2 days during your mentoring session.

    —You must attend weekly evening meetings

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Must be 18 years of older - Self motivated
    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent - Leadership skills

    • Second language is a plus, but not required - Possess a proven ability to

    • Must comply with Brockton Public School requirements, fingerprinting and have

    CORI background check and be approved by school department
