About the Organization

Apex for Youth delivers possibilities to underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in New York City.

Apex for Youth’s mission is to help change their lives. Founded in 1992, Apex recruits working professionals as volunteers to be positive role models who inspire these youth to expand their horizons and envision greater possibility for their future. Through mentoring, educational, and enrichment programs that serve students from first through twelfth grade, Apex volunteers build long-term relationships with each participating student. They guide and support youth to become confident young adults who are ready for college and are committed to giving back to the community.

Apex has a strong foundation and we are proud to be building on our many accomplishments:

• Our annual operating budget is currently over $3M, a 10x increase over five years;

• Revenue has reached an all-time high, and we continue to cultivate this growth by directing the

overwhelming majority of funding to program needs. We are investing in our most impactful programs;

• More than 11,000 hours of community service across eight partner school sites are delivering clear results: while 1 in 4 Asian American students in NYC public schools do not graduate high school on time or at all according to the Department of Education, 95% of Apex’s graduating seniors attend four-year universities.

Last year, Apex celebrated a 25-year commitment to empowering underserved Asian American youth with a tremendously successful gala that highlighted our community and the contributions of Asian American and immigrant youth. We used this milestone to reflect on the past and more broadly define and expand our capacity to meet the needs of the community over the next ten years.

Today, Apex looks to create a balance between expanding services and deepening engagement. Our engagement and fundraising efforts directly support mentorship; academic programs; middle school workshops; high school selection; enrichment in public speaking, music, arts, and sports opportunities; and community service activities as we expand our footprint beyond Manhattan into Brooklyn and Queens.

We are proud to welcome new families and children to the Apex community, raise visibility and break through barriers, and impact more communities and enrich more lives.
