        The vibrant First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia seeks a full-time Building Superintendent. As a regional community center, this historic church welcomes an average of 2,200 people per week to participate in countless cultural, educational, civic, wellness and spiritual events.

           Job Description: The Building Superintendent plays two main roles: facilities manager and events manager. In facilities management, the incumbent directs and/or executes all maintenance and repairs while assuring upkeep of all church equipment and systems (fire, utilities, sound, etc…). Collaborating with the Business Administrator and Property Ministry Team, the Building Superintendent plans and leads all property improvements, and supervises housekeeping staff and volunteers in maintaining the facilities. With events management, the incumbent oversees the security and hospitality for diverse property uses, including concerts, weddings, childcare, meetings, etc. This includes room and equipment set-ups, providing hospitality service to renters, and directing staff to turn space over as needed for another round of robust rental activity.

           Competencies: The ideal candidate demonstrates superior skills and background in repair and maintenance of historic buildings and proficiency in event management or comparable experience. Outstanding task completion, a high degree of cleanliness and organization, and attention to detail are crucial to the success of this position. As a public face for a religious organization, the incumbent must use superior interpersonal skills to successfully manage extensive interaction with a diversity of individuals and groups. Essential qualities include kindness, patience, flexibility, clear communication, and a drama-free approach to problem solving.

           Salary & Benefits: Commensurate with experience and training, the salary range is $39,000 – $44,000 per year. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, retirement, and paid time off, including vacation.
