Sacramento Street Preschool seeks a reliable, creative, self-directed lead preschool teacher with strong written and verbal communication skills

who will be invested in our community and has an interest in leading a small team. This individual should be able to take initiative yet also be

flexible enough to collaborate effectively within a community organization.


Responsibilities

  • Lead day to day programming for a mixed-age (2.9-5 years) preschool classroom of up to 20 children. In addition to program activities,

this includes:

  • Preparing and serving snack, toileting, supervising outdoor play, supervising lunch, facilitating rest time, maintaining program space and materials, supporting students’ social-emotional development
  • Plan and implement art- and play-based curriculum
  • Create and maintain strong family/teacher partnerships through effective family communication
  • Day to day communication
  • Email communicationClassroom Newsletter
  • Family Conferences
  • Plan and host monthly family engagement events
  • Collaborate with other programs at Agassiz Baldwin Community
  • Conduct classroom and student observations
  • Report to Early Education Site Director and Children’s Programs team to ensure curriculum and learning goals are met for each child and program as a whole

Level of Language Proficiency

●     EEC Lead Teacher Certification

●     AA, BA, or BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field

●     First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to September 2018

●     Knowledge of or willingness to learn and effectively implement Nurtured Heart Approach

●     Awareness and appreciation of cultural and family diversity

●     Experience teaching ELL students or proficiency in a second language a plus

●     Knowledge of sensory integration function a plus

●     Experience working with and supporting students with special needs a plus
