In 2014, the National Council merged with the State Associations of Addiction Services (SAAS).

Position Summary:

As directed by the Assistant Vice President, Membership, the Senior Membership Associate supports the activities of the Membership department, focusing primarily on membership activities related to the recruitment and retention of members, member engagement, member service and communications, as well as support of the National Council Board of Directors. Duties include tracking membership statistics, responding to member requests, membership database/CRM maintenance activities, data collection and reporting, coordinating membership activities with other National Council staff, department support, and other projects as needed. The position is also responsible for supporting the development of relationships within the organization, working with the Assistant Vice President to encourage networking and connections across departments and between staff and the National Council membership.

Areas of Accountability:

Membership Retention, Recruitment, Engagement, Customer Service (35%)

• Assist in membership renewal and recruitment activities, including “lead” tracking

• Provide ongoing customer service to National Council members

• Encourage and track member engagement

• Manage member listserv/community, as well as communications and social media activities celebrating member activities and accomplishments

• Identify new ways the National Council can provide value to members

Member Database (30%)

• Provide comprehensive database support

• Manage updates, maintenance, and reporting from member database. Coordinate with database consultant as necessary to develop reports and respond to special requests

• Coordinate communications with and response to other staff regarding the collection of member data information and lists as well as pulling reports as needed for staff

• Coordinate with member associations to maintain up to date member rosters

• Maintain master documents of various groups within the membership

Board of Directors (25%)

• Coordinate support to the Board of Directors

• Manage support needs of board meetings, including communications, event planning, logistics and materials preparations

• Assist with meeting minutes, update of policies and procedures, and update of rosters and contact information

• Assist with annual elections process

• Support and encourage the engagement and activities of board members regarding recruitment, retention, the annual conference, Hill Day, etc.

Other Duties as assigned (10%)

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors’ Degree

• 3-5 years membership or customer service experience in a membership association, with proven track record of achieving outreach goals; prior health care association experience a plus

• High attention to detail

• High level proficiency in Microsoft Office—MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; familiarity with membership database software preferred

• Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills

• Ability to contribute to a strong team-based environment

• Results-oriented with an ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to travel up to 10%
