Columbia City Church of Hope is a progressive new community of faith affiliated with the Lutheran Church (ELCA). We are rooted in God’s grace and acceptance growing together toward justice, love, and wholeness. We have been meeting weekly for seven years and enjoy the freedom and creativity inherent in being part of a new venture. We are excited to announce an opening for our Children’s Ministry position.


Qualities & Expectations

  • Enjoys working with children, particularly preschool and early elementary
  • Demonstrated skills in leading children’s activities particularly in church context
  • Independent, self-starter who is also able to work in collaboration with others
  • Able to lead and nurture talents of others who will help with the children’s ministry
  • Familiarity with children of various cultures
  • Familiarity with liturgical worship and seasons of the church year
  • Familiarity with special needs children, CPR, and First Aid (certification not required, but given special consideration)
  • Nurtures connections between the church and families with children in the wider community


Job Description (3-5 hours/week)

  • Collaboratively plan and lead age-appropriate, participatory activities that address a wide variety of topics and issues for a children’s ministry program
  • Provide support and guidance for parent volunteers on a weekly basis
  • Structure participatory activities to be adaptable to a wide variety of ages



Benefits

3-5 hours/week: Sundays (service 10:30--11:30am) + prep time
