Job Overview:

For 21 years, VH1 Save The Music has used a comprehensive model to affect change in America’s public schools. VH1 Save The Music’s approach combines investments of instruments and resources to jumpstart music programs, support to music teachers’ development and day-to-day work, and advocacy for music as a necessary component of every student’s education. Program Manager will carry out implementations of STM’s grant programs throughout the United States.

Senior Director of Programs and Policy


Responsibilities and Duties:

·Work closely with Senior Director of Programs and Policy for the management and implementation of grant program in large scale giving communities

·Develop and manage the relationships between, local school and government officials, music advocates, music educators, like-minded local partners and music retailers in respective communities.

·Oversee the purchase and/or delivery of all instruments going to selected schools, and for use at events.

·Compile and maintain a database of local music education/VH1 Save The Music stories (human interest, statistics, etc.).

·Provide expertise on music education content standard and curriculum

·Provide expertise on designing professional development

·Represent VH1 Save The Music at various events, including the public presentation of remarks on behalf of the Foundation.

·Carry out any additional special assignments as directed by the Senior Director of Programs and Policy


·Undergraduate degree in Music Education

·Three or more years of experience in teaching music, preferably in urban setting

·Passion for music education and youth development especially in underserved communities

·Exceptional attention to detail

·Excellent demonstrated writing and editing skills; excellent verbal communication skills

·Excellent interpersonal skills

·Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities and new opportunities

·Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the Internet

·Willing to travel regularly

·Spanish speaker is a plus
