Position: Test Prep Instructor

College Track’s Academic Affairs Department ensures all College Track students are academically ready for college admission. ACT Instructors are the primary direct service providers and advocates for students as they work to achieve on the ACT. Instructors will also gain administrative experience by fulfilling day-to-day administrative tasks and running at least one administrative project throughout the school year.

The goal of the Academic Affairs program is to give students the academic support necessary to graduate from high school college-ready and college-eligible. For most students, academic readiness means a GPA of 3.0 or higher, an ACT English score of an 18 and an ACT Math score of 22 or higher.


●      Bachelor’s degree, or currently working toward degree

●      Passion for and commitment to college access and success

●      Experience working with a diverse population students in a relevant program area (e.g. tutoring or teaching, college advising, or youth development)

●      Strong facilitation skills

●      Outstanding problem-solving skills

●      Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset

●      Ability to quickly build rapport with students and keep them motivated and productive

●      High level of self-awareness, humility, and emotional intelligence

●      Cleared background check and TB test before start date


●      Work approximately 15-29.5 hours per week, with the potential for some Friday and Saturday work

●      Following College Track’s national curriculum, teach weekly Junior ACT classes

●      Lead weekly academic support groups/study halls for students struggling in math subject classes

●      Input and monitor student diagnostic data and official ACT scores to suggest and create program improvements

●      Proctor mock ACT exams and diagnostics

●      Embed and model academic habits — organization, time management, self-advocacy, and study habits — in mentorship of all students

●      Participate in weekly professional development and meetings to discuss student needs and target students

●      Complete administrative tasks including, but not limited to, maintaining the center, monitoring technology, taking attendance, chaperoning field trips, entering data, and contacting parents and teachers, administering practice tests

●      Attend onboarding and orientation prior to the start of the Summer, Fall, and Spring sessions as well as professional development and networking opportunities provided by College Track outside of work hours

●      Assist with capacity building projects as assigned by the Academic Affairs Director


This position is a part-time, non-exempt hourly position ($20 - $40 per hour). Compensation is commensurate with experience.
