YouthCare builds confidence and self-sufficiency for homeless youth ages 12-24 by providing a continuum of care that includes homelessness prevention, street outreach, basic services, emergency shelter, housing, counseling, education, and employment training. Founded in 1974 as a three-bed emergency shelter program, our continuum now operates across nine locations and a variety of community-based partnerships. Several of our programs are national models, and we are a leader locally and across the country in serving runaway and homeless youth, as well as young people who have experienced sexual exploitation.
YouthCare is seeking Youth Counselors for our Shelter, Outreach, and Housing Services programs. Youth Counselors are responsible for the daily management of the housing program sites. All residential programs are open 24/7 and per agency licensing requirements, program must maintain safe staff and client ratio to provide services to our clients. In conjunction with clinical staff, the Youth Counselor’s task is to create a safe and caring environment for high risk youth and young adults in residence who are preparing to transition to become more self-sufficient. The position requires an individual who can actively contribute to a positive, stable, responsive and responsible environment for change.
Successful candidates will have:
- High School Diploma; GED or Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Preferably: at least 1 year of professional or volunteer experience successfully working with at-risk-youth or young adults in a crisis, during outreach efforts or in residential setting.
- Experience and credentials must comply with program contract requirements including but not limited to DSHS background check and must be at least 21 years of age.
