Summary:

The Grants Associate supports PATH’s organization fundraising goals by writing compelling foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals. Primary activities include prospect research, writing letters of interest and proposals, timely submission and tracking of proposals, researching relevant studies and statistics, preparing grant reports, and data entry. The Grants Associate will also assist with additional development activities as needed. This position is responsible for a high volume of proposals and reports, and will have the opportunity to learn about and help shape PATH’s many diverse programs. The ability to maintain a positive attitude while juggling multiple deadline-driven projects will serve you well.

Responsibilities:

  • Grant Writing – Write and assemble compelling applications for private foundations and corporations, in partnership with the Director of Grants and development and program teams.
  • Reporting – Assist with the preparation of required progress and final reports, including compiling necessary information from program and finance staff, drafting written reports, and submitting all reports in a timely manner.
  • Statistical Research – Research information and statistics needed to support proposals and reports. Monitor developments within the community using published reports and articles.
  • Prospect Research – Identify new potential government and private funding opportunities through publications, website subscriptions, the internet, and other resources.
  • Funder Engagement – Attend necessary bidders’ conferences and grant workshops. Coordinate site visits from funders, interact with and respond to questions from foundation and corporate representatives, and participate in relevant discussions and meetings.
  • Acknowledgement – Work with administrative staff to ensure that donation acknowledgement letters are sent to funders in a timely manner, and ensure proper follow up with declined requests.
  • Data Entry and Management – Support entry and management of foundation, corporate, and government submissions, awards, and reports in agency database.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 1-3 years experience in development, fundraising, and/or grant writing.
  • History of successfully securing foundation and corporate grants.
  • Impeccable writing and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of DonorPerfect or similar grants management software preferred.
  • Ability to work in an open setting with frequent communication with coworkers.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to develop creative solutions.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Project a professional demeanor.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and great people skills.
  • Maintain regular attendance.

Work Environment

The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using alcohol and drugs, and who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health and safety practices. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and lack of personal hygiene. The employee must be ready to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis situations and potentially hostile situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in an office setting. Sometimes work may become stressful when working under pressure.
