Georgia Legal Services seeks a staff attorney to work in its Gainesville, Columbus, Albany, Dalton, Piedmont, Augusta (Part-time) Savannah or Brunswick Regional office. 


Circuit-ride to outlying counties; handle cases in state and federal court and administrative forums; conduct community legal education sessions and engage in outreach activities; participate with other advocates on action teams that explore and solve systemic issues affecting significant numbers of clients.

Gainesville Office only:

The attorney will specialize in education cases regarding disciplinary actions in schools located in Cherokee, Henry, Douglas, Rockdale and Fayette Counties. The attorney will conduct outreach in the Latino communities in these counties in an effort to keep Latino children in school. The attorney will handle a varied caseload in state and federal court and in administrative forums. The attorney will circuit-ride to counties; engage in issues advocacy; conduct outreach activities; and work on various projects with other attorneys and advocates.


Graduate of accredited law school; Georgia Bar membership, or willing to take next exam; demonstrated interest or experience in working with low income clients and/or on poverty law issues. Good oral advocacy, writing, and computer skills, and have a reliable car and driver’s license. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but is required in the Gainesville office.
