Director of Alumni Support Job Description


The Director of Alumni Support is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive  support designed to provide meaningful opportunities for alumni to advance their leadership goals.  Track the continued leadership growth of alumni and work with mentors to ensure effective alumni support.  This is a full time position that requires travel across the state and working evening nights and weekends.


Plans and executes alumni activities that are both social and leadership development focused. Facilitates the growth of the alumni network by – Recruiting Alumni Leaders team to assist in determining the needs of the full alumni network. Coordinates and facilitates alumni specific trainings often in collaboration with issue area experts.


Director of Alumni Support Duties and Responsibilities


Develop plans and strategies to support alumni

Produce and execute events that generate alumni collaboration across cohorts

Cultivate strong relationships with alumni and other progressive leaders

Design, manage and facilitate alumni training sessions

Maintain a social media presence for alumni

Mange alumni section of website

Research and build relationship with issue area experts that can assist with developing alumni specific trainings

Provide Director and Board with consistent updates on alumni progress

Attend Board Meetings

Maintain reasonably consistent communication with alumni



Director of Alumni Support Requirements and Qualifications


An unwavering commitment progressive values

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Drive

Knowledge of the distinction between 501(3) and 501(4) rules

Excellent writing and verbal communications skills

Innovator who can develop detailed plans and execute them without much oversight

An excellent team player

Ability to work closely with others  

Previous campaign experience

Direct Organizing Experience

Experience managing large groups

Reliable Access to transportation

Ability to travel across the state


Preferred:

Experience and knowledge of the Virginia political landscape

Previous Experience as Campaign Manager or Field Director


Demonstrated Fundraising experience
