Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a national nonprofit trails organization, seeks a Trail Development Manager for the Western Regional Office (in Oakland) to support our work  creating trail networks that connect people to where they live, work and play. This position plays a pivotal role in our Bay Area Trails Collaborative (BATC), a coalition effort to create a 2,700-mile trail network for the Bay Area, as part of RTC’s TrailNation program. The Trail Development Manager (TD Manager) is tasked with advancing trail projects from concept to design phase, which may include planning and conducting community outreach and engagement; cultivating relationships with local government and stakeholders; providing technical assistance; using GIS to produce maps and conduct analyses; developing educational materials and giving presentations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on juggling a variety of tasks, is resourceful and self-directed, and has excellent interpersonal, writing and speaking skills.

Minimum Qualifications: four-year college degree in urban/regional planning, land use management, parks/recreation, active transportation or related field plus 4-5 years related experience. 

Local candidates or candidates with significant work experience in California.
