JOB OVERVIEW:

New Lease is looking for a qualified individual to coordinate the stabilization services of housed families and individuals and deliver eviction prevention guidance and resources to ensure stable, successful tenancies across programming. This is critical to upholding our mission of reducing homelessness.


REPORTS TO:

Deputy Director; Executive Director


RESPONSIBILITIES:

•        Coordinate assessment and service delivery for families and individuals placed in housing through New Lease programming;

•        Work closely with partner providers to assist with client concerns and troubleshoot barriers to housing stability, including but not limited to finances/budgeting, legal matters, mental health conditions, substance use/misuse, employment, health care, and housekeeping;

•        Develop partnerships with participating providers to insure comprehensive delivery of services and seamless service exits;

•        Research and maintain accurate information regarding statewide stabilization services and eviction prevention resources;

•        Administer New Lease financial assistance resources, including accepting and reviewing assistance applications; supporting the completion of the applications, as needed; developing comprehensive assistance payment plans that are conducive to the applicant and their respective property (if applicable); submitting check requests and supporting documentation to accounting staff; logging data related to payments;

•        Assist clients with access and connections to community supports and services, especially once their allotted provider-led case management ends;

•        Develop and maintain neutral partnerships and collaborations with participating service providers and private property companies;

•        Proactively and regularly check in with property managers regarding the well-being of housed participants and assist as needed;

•        Mediate communication between private property company staff and tenants, which might involve hosting joint meetings;

•        Maintain database of housed program participants and track tenancy concerns;

•        Promptly respond to concerns of case managers and property staff as tenancy issues arise;

•        Assist with development of trainings for property management staff and social service provider staff around New Lease programming and strategies to support stable tenancies and strong families;

•        Attend and present at trainings and other agency events;

•        Field general inquiries and assist with referrals as needed;

•        Support other programs and complete other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

•        Three to five years of experience in supportive services administration or similar position(s);

•        Case management and assets/needs assessment experience with homeless individuals and families;

•        Experience assisting clients with a variety of backgrounds and barriers, including those with legal/CORI histories, mental health conditions, etc.;

•        Experience with crisis intervention regarding issues such as homelessness, eviction prevention, mental health, substance abuse, etc.;

•        Experience managing emergency financial assistance funding or similar financial resources;

•        Experience and commitment to data collection and measuring outcomes to enable accurate program reporting;

•        Knowledge of harm reduction approach to client services;

•        Knowledge and experience with various service agencies and resources, including but not limited to MA State service systems e.g. Department of Transitional Assistance and the Department of Social Services;

•        Empathic towards the needs of those experiencing homelessness, diverse communities, and/or those with low income backgrounds; 

•        Ability to work independently and proactively, as well as to manage multiple priorities and projects;

•        Excellent time management, organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills;

•        Commitment to expanding affordable housing for homeless families and individuals;

•        Bilingual in Spanish and/or another language is a plus.
