Camp Augusta is an 80 acre, non-profit, residential summer camp nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California, and we offer a one-of-a-kind experience for campers and staff alike. From zipline canopy tours to dinner dressed as pirates and jewelry-smithing to horseback rides through enchanted forests, the days at Augusta are always full of imagination, laughter, wish, wonder, and of course, surprise.

Master of Operations (Operations Manager/Program Development):

Camp has many, many moving parts, and the Master of Operations (MOP) is just the person to fit them all together. Resources, programming supplies, vans, processes, and people – putting these resources together at the right place and right time makes our summer run smoothly, and the MOP is the spider at the center of that web. As our programs and site need constant upkeep, materials, and time dedicated toward them, the MOP will schedule the right person with the right task, and consistently find areas of camp that need order, function, ease, and smoothness.

When in your life has your work asked you to have an oatmeal fight, transform into a dragon, search your soul and encourage soul searching for others? Working at Augusta is an experience unlike any other. Our days are beautiful, demanding, inspiring, educational, hilarious, frustrating, silly, surprising, intimate, active and most importantly, full of opportunity. Our staff have ample opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally. In our 3.5 week staff training and throughout the summer, staff can learn and practice progressive models of child development and counseling, communication techniques like clean communication and Nonviolent Communication, diverse leadership styles as well as how to live in a tight-knit community. Come with an open-mind, a trusting-heart and plenty of ambition, and leave with a heart on fire!

We are a residential summer camp that offers six sessions (3 week-long and 3 two week-long) playing in the sun with 90 campers (ages 8-16) each session. We are committed to fostering the innocence and imagination of childhood, and we aim to give campers time away from the distractions of modern life. From sleeping in open air cabins without electricity to replacing television and radio with camp songs and campfire skits, we give campers the opportunity to reconnect with the beauty and simplicity of nature.

Augusta stands proudly and equally on two pillars: play and personal growth. Play is the heart of our summer camp experience. From candle-making to zipline canopy tours and horseback archery to dinner dressed as pirates, we offer our campers the opportunity to rediscover the innocence and wonder of childhood away from the distractions of modern life. Where camper’s dreams meet counselor’s know-how, Augusta breathes magic into every day. And just as important as the spirit of play, personal growth underpins every aspect of life at camp. Engaging deeply with our intentional community, both campers and staff have the opportunity to develop self-awareness, confidence, creativity, healthy ways of communicating and so much more!

Master of Operations Skills:

• Enjoys logistical problem solving and is able to think clearly to lead a team of staff in an emergency situation. Is an expert on the camp emergency procedures for all potential scenarios
• Understands the risk management steps thoroughly and always has an eye on risk at camp, reviewing via interaction and observations.
• They view work projects and overall site health as a sign of community health.
• Efficiency and multitasking: in looking at task completion around camp, the Master of Operations always considers where multiple areas can be tackled at once, and is a logistical ninja when considering matching staff and skills to tasks. They seek to save time and energy where possible
• Process innovation: is always analyzing the optimal way to tackle a problem without cutting corners on the outcome

Master of Operations Tasks:

• Manages work projects for all areas of camp; prioritizes tasks and communicates time needs to the Puppet Master. They assign staff to tasks accordingly, based on priority and skill needed. Follow up on tasks is completed in a thorough and timely manner, and staff are held accountable for the projects they completed
• Organizes transportation needs for the entire camp community with dedication to safety, quality, and affordability. Vehicles are kept in the highest condition and are always on site with plenty of gas. MOP works with the vehicle rental company to keep the rentals affordable and available to us.
• Manages, orients and oversees the camp nurses and medical supplies to ensure that all medical needs are met during the summer. This includes filing all important paperwork for both campers and staff
• Oversees a number of other roles at camp - the MOP knows each of these roles inside out, and can assist with processes or problem-solving with regards to these roles as the needs arise. These roles include Kitchen Manager, Master of Fun and Games and the Nurse
• Engages with the rest of the camp community to offer fun, memorable experiences even beyond the realm of the MOP
