Join the growing team at the Amalgamated Foundation, a platform for progressive, social change philanthropy that manages more than 150 donor-advised funds and collaborative funds. In 2020, the Foundation gave more than $60 million to organizations on the frontlines of social change, including $30 million to BIPoC-led organizations. Committed to innovation, the Foundation is uniquely nimble and efficient in forging connections between individual donors, institutional funders, and grantees.

The Foundation’s leadership initiatives include the Hate is Not Charitable Campaign that inspires dialogue and action about de-funding hate groups; the Democracy Reinvestment Fund that focuses on corporate support for the protection of voting rights; and the Disaster Recovery Hub that promotes a model of community-led disaster relief funding.

The Director of Collective Impact will explore, develop, and implement strategies to grow and manage the Foundation’s portfolio of combined impact funds, also known as collaborative or pooled funds. Business development strategies will include outreach and engagement with institutional funders and funder networks; cultivation of relationships with field organizations; and high-touch engagement with inquiries and referrals.

The Director of Collective Impact will also serve as the senior point of contact for the services provided to these funds, including coordination of incoming grants and grant proposals, specialized grantmaking services, and the navigation of governance and compliance issues. The Director will also be encouraged to innovate new programs and services targeted at strengthening the efficiency and impact of collective giving managed by the Foundation.

The Director of Collective Impact will assess the foundation’s current portfolio, short-and long-term growth opportunities, to inform the Foundation’s growth and impact goals. From this assessment, the Director will work collaboratively with Foundation leadership to design a compensation incentive structure for the position.

This position can be based remotely and requires a highly organized and self-disciplined individual who is able to effectively work with agility and focus within a startup environment.
