JOB SUMMARY:

Provide individual counseling services for adult victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse including those who are incarcerated and/or have a range of cognitive, functional, and mobility impairments.

                       

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Master’s in social work, psychology, counseling, or other related field
  • Must be New Jersey Licensed counselor (LSW, LCSW, LAC, LPC, LCADC, LMFT)
  • Minimum 3 years working with incarcerated persons, persons with disabilities and/or victims of trauma, domestic or sexual violence
  • Must have genuine passion for the movement to end domestic violence and sexual assault and to desire to help empower all survivors with varying abilities and capacities with cultural competency and sensitivity
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Clear Criminal Background Check
  • Valid Driver’s License – clean driving records for past five (5) years (no DUI, speeding, texting or similar offense)
  • Complete SAFE in Hunterdon’s, or another New Jersey DV/SV agency’s, mandatory domestic violence/sexual violence Victim Counselor training or equivalent


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct individual counseling sessions with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse
  • Provide crisis intervention services, advocacy and referrals to domestic and sexual abuse survivors and their families
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing family relationship issues, where applicable
  • Administer, interpret and discuss standardized assessments with clients
  • Establish empowerment-centered victim-driven goals with survivors with disabilities and assist them in the successful timely completion of same
  • Work to reduce and eliminate barriers for survivors with disabilities to ensure equal access, equal justice, and equal opportunities to heal
  • Identify and engage community resources as collaborative partners in serving survivors of domestic violence, especially those serving persons with disabilities, build relationships
  • Assist in tracking, modifying, assessing, and reassessing policies, procedures, and protocols for SAFE in Hunterdon as needed to ensure equal access, reduce barriers and marginalization, and continually improve services for, and in alliance with, victims with disabilities and their non-offending caregivers
  • Facilitate parent/caregiver or other support groups to participants of the Program
  • Facilitate survivor support and psycho-educational groups
  • Implement project plan per grant guidelines and track/meet outcome measures
  • Advocate for clients to community agencies where appropriate and in alignment with agency confidentiality policies
  • Work collaboratively with counselors and other agency staff
  • Abide by confidentiality and privilege requirements at all times
  • Participate in counseling case management meetings
  • Maintain case files including progress notes, service plans
  • Complete project statistics on a monthly basis
  • Update information in client tracking database
  • Knowledgeable of and deliver on service level agreements related to all applicable grants, including but not limited to outcomes data and level-of-service reports submitted on a timely basis


SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide updated status reports to Director on regular basis or as requested
  • Participate in agency staff meetings
  • Participate on internal committees as directed
  • Volunteer minimum of three (3) hours for agency-wide function, special event or fundraiser as directed by Executive Director.
  • May drive agency vehicle and may transport staff or clients between agency locations and other areas of the county for valid business reasons as requested
